SIX_94Y, Here's a thought, imagine the pulley as being a cast item and then has the machining done . Where the tooling would be used to clean up the casting ,leave it polished ,and where you would leave the casting raw(as in the centre cone section) blast it. I like your car BTW ,what strip are you going to run this at,as it would be a nice car to see race . Cheers RM PS I hope it makes it to the chopped show ,looking forwards to seeing it live !
Finished off the blower manifold and it is here at work with me, so i'll give it a skim over the gasket areas and blast it and she'll be ready to go! RM I have only ever competed at WSID first with it looking like this. But last year? (i think it was) Me, my next door neighbor and his brother gave it a birthday, and it has only been out once since. As for chopped it'll definitely be there!!!!
Looks really good. Can't wait to see it and hear it at Chopped. You should have done a seperate tech week article for the 6x2 manifold. Good Work.
Thanks guys, you taking your pickup down again muzz? Here's a pic of the manifold so far. And I'm going a little high tech here but this is going in as a water to air intercooler. They were $60 for the pair delivered off a yz250f I'll just cut the tanks off and integrate it into the clamp plate under the blower. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Thinking of leaving on the Thursday as it will be a long drive in the pickup. Will the carbs have to be modified for the ethanol or just re-jetted.
For ethanol, should only need more fuel, but as it nears chopped may not be on ethanol yet, supposedly all seals, gaskets, etc... will be ok with no change for e85. Some of the guys here are trying to leave wed and i'll hopefully be towing with my little wagon so i'd like to leave then too, but looking at the time left and the amount to do, i'd say i'll be leaving thurs too.
Blasted the manifold! Looks Right to me! Hidden under the blower with the weiand blow plate poking out should be sweet. Mounted the rocker covers, but had to pull the pipes off to do it with the longer studs. More pics and details soon, 10 days to go!!! Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
6 days till departure and I haven't even built the blower! Getting stressed now! On the plus side all my parts arrived! Thanks Charley! And thanks Cody from hurst tyres. No excuses now! Gotta get it done..... Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Thanks for the tag topper too. Its cool as! I ***ume you made it? I'll be asking some questions after the show when I have some spare time again! Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I'll be building carbs tonight, got a couple machining jobs left to do then all bolting it up and getting it to run! Set up the pulleys. Ended up blasting them all, looks mean and purposeful! And if you're wondering what the fifth groove on the idler is for, it will drive the water pump and alternator. Made up my little tri plate with my last name in it as I felt I deserved a mention with all the work that I have done... Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Sorry about the big jump but got the car running this morning just before loading it on the truck. Here's a few photos anyway, Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Drove it out of the carport lots of tune to work on! I'll play with it at chopped. Sorted the rear wheel dilemma and onto the truck she goes. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
You do awesome work my friend! I'm subscribed, and have seen your rig on yblocks forever. Great inspiration.
That's a great looking car, and your machine work is exceptional. I love the roofline of the car, kind reminds me of some of the 50's Studes.
Looks great man, the cast look wins. Those air filters look a little like paint gun reservoirs thou Phat bug dude, need to see better pics of your avatar..
Ok a little update on how and what was done..... Obviously it runs and made it to chopped, I ended up running only 4 carbs, purely due to the condition of the 10 I had stripped to try and build 6, as strange as it might seem this car has most of my worst bits, it's a race car after all just has to go flat out! I put power valve block off plugs in and upped the jet sizes to 64's all around kept fouling plugs till I put some 49's in the front carbs. Still a little fat but ok with a little clear out before a run. That blower is ****ing some fuel in! I am only running the two front accel pumps on the smallest shot hole. No flat spot and ran great!
