I recently acquired a '64 barracuda. It's mechanically mostly done, with high-performance everything. Hasn't been run for 4 years due to the death of the previous owner. Today, I checked the oil and found milkshake so I drained the oil immediately. About a gallon to a gallon and a half of coolant came out, followed by oil and "melted chocolate." It seemed to be pretty well separated with only a small amount actually blended into "milkshake." It's been sitting like that the whole time (4 years). If it's the intake or head gaskets, is it possible to simply replace the gaskets, then flush it with motor-flush (spinning the oil pump with a drill) to wash it out, refill the fluids and run it (changing oil again right-away)? Or is it gonna' have to be rebuilt for sure??? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Welcome to the Hamb. I love 1st Gen Barracudas, not enough love out there for these awesome vehicles. If your going to ask tech questions though, do it in the technical forum this is just an intro page (not many people see it here), But, I think changing the gaskets and cleaning it out real good should work. keep a VERY close eye on it. Especially The oil pressure! if you don't have a aftermarket oil gauge, I would suggest putting one in before cranking it. and check for oil pressure if you got none then there is your answer (Rebuild time). if you do, then its all up to you. I would do a lot of oil changes after. So whats the plans for the Cuda? gasser? stocker? FYI the HAMB is not a muscle car friendly place, so If thats the route I wouldnt go bragging about it around the forum.
