28/29 Model A radiator and shell???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by -, May 14, 2004.

  1. Has any body used a mustang radiator with a 28/29 grill shell? I have a project I need a radiator for and don't want to fork out big bucks for a custom rad to fit the shell.

  5. Fatabone ..I forgot Mikey had his sitting there. I'll have to get him to check it.

I checked the how to which was good but I am wondering if it will fit a 28/29. The 30/31 are bigger like a 32. We used one in mine and Larry's truck and they worked great.

  6. They fit inside a 28-29 real nice...I have one complete setup sitting in my garage right now.
Rad is 19.5" wide x 21" tall and Shell is 28" tall x 22.5" wide. Problem I have is motor is mounted to high (or is it the radiator to low?) and the fan will cut the upper hose! But what I have is a little radical on the rake...

when i was browsing ebay the other day, lookin for dimensions and prices on mustang radiators, i came across this radiator fella that has lots of mustang rads, with decent buy it now prices...something i noticed he had, was radiator for a ford 8n tractor i think, it was similar in width as the mustang rad, but several inches taller, looked to be good for the later model a shell, check it out. ain't too hard to find, and this guy lists all dimensions and has good pics of the stuff. most rads he has are about $150 or so.

Hey Clark...They work really well in a '28/29 shell. I ran one a few years back on a '34 pickup. The best part is you can get 'em 3 or 4 core really reasonable.

  9. Thanks!! I ran one in my RPU and really liked it I just wasn't sure it would fit in the model a shell. There is a mustang guy close by that keeps them in stock. He sells them for $145.
