I was just thinking exactly the same thing! All these young guys from overseas building period-perfect cars, and so many guys on this side of the ocean building stuff that is, well, ummm not so period-perfect...Maybe too much Janet-itis over here?

  4. 14.9 engine is a smaller ci. version of the model A engine that they built for english cars but ive now got a standard A banger so thats going in and i'll sell the other engine to a restorer

  5. Is the 14.9 measured in liters or something? Like I ask new car dealers- what is that in cubic inches?

  6. thats the taxed horse power i grabbed this off the internet, its not only destroked its also a smaller bore

Ford of England built both the regular Model A (24 hp) and the Model AF (14.9 hp) which was a destroked Model A for a lower horsepower tax.

Nice build! And who says there's no hope for the younger generations.
Keep up the good work and photos.

picture of my front brake set up and how i got around it with using 32 spindles on the 32 axle but with A brakes and perches.

using all ford parts to get around it felt like its what they would have done in the late 30s to lower the front end down.

What is tax hp? Is it hp per cylinder or hp per certain engine speed? What is the displacement, bore and stroke of that engine?

  14. It was an British thing In 1921 the so-called "horsepower tax" was introduced. The annual tax was £1 per horsepower. So ford decided to make a smaller capacity engine for the market over here called the AF to go in there model A's so it seemed more appealing to customers paying less tax on there car each year.

As far as i can find out the spec on the 14.9 h.p. engine is of 2,003cc capacity with a 3.05" bore and a 4.25" stroke

I really like the photoshop version of your car! If you build it like that you'll have one hell of a ride :)
