I used to impress the ladies after cl*** at the community college by hand-cranking my '29 Model A standard coupe. I had it tuned so well that it would start by just pulling up the crank. Loved the sound of that banger.
I also recommend not to use spray foam. You already mentioned you have a humid climate, spray foam is great at trapping moisture against metal. Instead seal up any holes with RTV or something similar.
Can you take a good photo of the area you want into insulate maybe we’ll come up with a good alternative plan to foam.
Butyl rubber seals well but sticks to whatever it touches, but once dry it doesn't deteriorate. Wax paper keeps it from sticking to things like door frames, windshield frames, etc. Once dry, the butyl rubber seals quite well and is flexible enough to fill the gap and keep air out.
I'm thinking it's coming from the header panel right above the windshield. I places some thin strips of dynamat up there to see if that helped. It kinda did. I bought spray foam but I got loc***e brand called "***e foam". Im gonna try putting some 3/16" foam strip on the other side of the door frame (the lip that when door is closed, it seals against the side of the body). I already have 3/16" foam on the door jam where it meets the A piller jamb. I'm also gonna completely insulate the floors as well before committing to any spray foam. Here's an overview of the ***e foam I bought. Sounds like it's better than great stuff, but still gonna try some things before I use it. Also bought some "mor***e" caulking cord I was thinking of trying. Gordy
How big are the gaps you're trying to seal with the foam tape? I have up to 1/2" on some areas of my 46 GMC.
The door jamb I'm talking about isn't much at all. Probably about 1/8" to 3/16". The rear of the doors (where I don't think the wind is coming from is almost about 3/8" or 1/2". Maybe I'll do those as well. It sounds like it's coming from in front of the doors or at the front of the doors. And can feel a slight breeze. Maybe I buy some yarn and tape it around the windshield and see what the deal is. Get a little more scientific with it.
Was gonna paint bed today but weather wouldn't allow it. So I worked on interior instead adding insulation and other stuff. wind noise seems pretty good now. Up to 60mph it's non existent. Then after 60 up to 70-75 it gets bad. I'm starting to think it's just the visor. The visor sure does move around a bunch. Gotta get it louvered or do speed holes. Maybe I'll try taking it off and seeing if it's better now.
That's good news. Don't forget that your phone-booth shaped truck was never meant to go that fast or be quiet inside. That's not to say that your efforts are wasted, but you'll have to decide when it's "good enough" for your purposes. It's probably 1000X better than it ever was. Have you put sound deadener on the inside of every accessible panel? If you can fit it in the doors, lining the inside of door skins can make a big difference.
Thats a good idea. I had thought about doing the doors but not sure If I want to commit to doing the back panel, yet. I kinda like the look of it as is, but if it'll help, I'll probably do it. If I could get it to drive 70 with the wind noise it has at 60 I will be one happy camper. I just want to be able to have a conversation at 70 on the highway if need be. And maybe get a radio in it thats small and out of the way. haha Maybe thatlll make it seem better is loud music. lol Gordy
The back panel will make a noticeable difference. I almost suggested putting some on the visor but if you had to take it off later to louver it, it would ****. I’m curious if you bought some door magnets ( about 1/6 to 1/8 thick you put your business on it and slap it on the work trucks door) and sliced them to size if even the added thickness would help quite the visor
I was almost thinking of trying to make a quarter pipe shaped piece that goes down from visor and rolls down into front header. And maybe doing speed holes on the outboard sides of the visor only? I'm wondering if that would help air just flow better. Might be worth a try and thankfully the visor is so long that it will be hidden. I think the doors are about as good as i can get em. I think its just the visor at this point. Gordy

Man I absolutely love this truck! You crushing it man. I’m curious how your fuel filler/ neck p***es thru/ works with the splash apron. And how much room is there for those tail lights on the back side of the fender. Guess I’m gonna go do a quick skim of the thread and see if I find answers
Found some aluminum gas caps at a swap meet that both matched. Theyre flanged where they sit on the apron with four bolt holes. They kinda have a slight pipe thru the gas cap that is 2" long that goes toward the tanks. So i just measured where they needed to be on the aprons and drilled a hole for the center, then needed to trim the pipe part of the cap so it wouldnt rub and had some clearance. Taillights have enough room for sure. My tires arent tucked as much as I'd like them to be, but the speedway 50 pontiac taillights are pretty slim. I think theyre 50 pontiac style. My left bulb already went out. lol Gordy
I'm with Tim. I love this truck, especially the paint. Right color, great texture for a survivor working truck. Wheels give it that integrity. It commands respect.

Looks good all one colour. The vibe of the truck is turning out really good. Your tailgate makes mine look like a hockey stick. What size are your rear tires? Looks like maybe 255/70, are they 16 or 15?
Thanks Weedburner! For all the tips on fender braces and wind noise. Think I might buy 155R15 front tires next time, think the 165R15 is just a tad big. But gonna wait till I wear these out lol It is a fun driver, I got a speeding ticket in town and the officer didnt care that I wired my speedo wrong lol Thanks! Its just satin hunter green rustoleum mixed with satin rustoleum black until we got it as dark as we wanted. Wish I mixed just a little more, but one quart got me a lot farther than I thought lol. I think theyre 265/70R16. I think theyre a little too wide. Id really rather get a skinnier rear tire. When I narrow the rear about 1" on each side I'm gonna get a taller, skinnier rear tire and lower the coil overs locking collar thing about 2" to bottomed out. Gordy

Damn fine looking truck. Love everything about the look. Bed length, un-chopped cab, color, stance. The slight rear tire overhang lends just enough hot rod at***ude.
Found a zips water pump riser to help keep it cool in traffic. Ended up not really being the problem and think it was just the gauge stunk. (New SW electric gauge). Swapped it for an older one that doesn't match but whatever! Atleast it's accurate! and calibrated my Speedo so now my odometer will be somewhat accurate. (It now reads at 8800 miles but I definitely only have 1500 or less miles on it lol). And hopefully won't get any more tickets. wind noise is definitely better. Drove it with visor off and it wasn't bad at all. 65 and 70 with windows down I could have a loud conversation (usually with my 3 year old son) lol. Keep noise cancelling headphones in there if he wants them. got a turtle box Bluetooth speaker with magnets i plan to use in it. My short list is 1) phone charger 2) out of sight phone holder for directions on long trips 3)make interior panels (with pockets) for the doors and cowl sides.... maybe just maybe the rear panel. 4) attach window rollers Also did speed holes. Drove it and definitely feels like there's no visor anymore. Went with 5" hole saws and did them closer to the base nd further from the front. I like the large holes, I think it fits with the visor and my larger headlights. just gonna keep getting it dialed in. Gordy
