Event Coverage *** 28 hours + 1 Deuce Coupe = BIG FUN!!! ***

I just wanted to take a few minutes to share the highlights on my road trip this weekend.

I decided to head down to Ohio to meet up with the Rolling Bones as they spent the night on day-one of their trip to Bonneville.

So at 3:00 Saturday afternoon I jumped into the Chemical City Coupe and headed south.

About an hour and a half into the trip I met up with Kirk Hanning and his buddy Steve. Kirk's '34 Tudor is wicked and sure looked good flying down the road. We cruised the rest of the way down to Ohio together.

We got down to the hotel about 6:00. We beat the Rolling bones there so we went out and had some ribs for dinner.

When we got back the crew had arrived and the party began.

Someone snapped a pic of Me and Andy (thunderbirgesq) and Dustin (sinticket) shooting the shit. These boys are lucky enough to be running the Rolling Bones '29 roadster on the salt this year. Godspeed boys - give 'em hell!

Do these Bones guys know how to pack or what?

I drooled over Tom T's deuce, but never got a chance to talk with him. Damn nice car!

Well after burgers, brats, beer and a few too many chicken wings I called it a night.

In the morning I run up to get some gas when this beater pulls into the pump next to me...

Andy and Dustin had stolen it. Apparently they aren't morning people based on their friendly good morning waves! LOL.

Does Poteet know what kind of deviants are driving around in his car?

After the 6:00 A.M. driver's meeting we were off...

I was going to hang with the guys into Indiana, then head south to the Battle at Bunker Hill Drags.

    On the open road...

The 'Bones latest build is just plain killer. This was the owners maiden voyage in the car. He flew in to drive the car to Bonneville and then will continue home to California from there.

Marty's super-clean '34 continued on with the crew until lunch and then peeled off for home.

I still had a hard time wrapping my head around flying down the highway next to this incredible car.

Marty's wife took these shots from the '34

It seems like we were just getting started when my exit came and I had to head south towards Bunker Hill

About this time the GPS on my phone locked up and I got lost trying to find the track. About 45 minutes late and 2 stops for directions, I finally got to the track.

Being a little flustered from getting lost I forgot to take pics!!! I'm kicking myself for that as the Battle was a really neat event with lots cool cars.

Here are few pics sent to me by some friends.

If anyone else out there has any pics and/or video from the event, I would love see them. Post them up!!!

At the track I got a good chance to hang with Jo Kerr and Willie T. I hadn't seen these guys since I picked the car up from JoKerr Fabrication on Memorial day. Jo was excited that I had driven the car down there and was stoked that I was going to race it also. Jo builds his cars to be driven and that's one of the reasons I had him build the coupe for me. I told Jo from day one that I was going to drive the shit out of this thing. I'm trying to keep up my end of the deal and I have about 4000 miles on the car already. I'll be driving her down to Indy for Goodguys and out to Baltimore for the Rodder's Journal Show in September also.

Well, I would have loved to stay longer and make a few more passes, I had to bug out early because home was still 5 hours away.

Here she is back home at 6:00 P.M..

Pretty proud of the old girl because she ran like a champ. Other than a glitch with the throttle linkage at the track, it was smooth sailing.

That's a true testament to the build and my hat goes off to Jo Kerr for building this thing right. Thanks brother!

The stats on the trip go something like this:

Time away from home: 28 hours
    Miles Traveled: 675
    Hours of sleep: about 3
Cool people I got to hang with: Dozens
    # more passes I would have liked to take at the Battle: 10
    # of chicken wings consumed Saturday night: 3 too many

Overall the trip was a blast. A big thanks to the Rolling Bones guys for being great hosts and letting me tag along.

Dave asked me to raise my booster seat for the photo ;) I'm confident the 5" channel makes me stand tall!

Kirk, not a plug for Spadaro but just wondering how the QC was working out for you? Would you do it again or changed anything?

    Ha! Excellent report!

  14. Dude anyone that builds a car as nice as yours should stand tall - even if they are 5'2".

Glad we hooked up for the trip down. I see a few more road trips in our future!

The Spadaro quick change center section is working just fine. I forget that it's back there for the exception of the straight cut gears that howl a bit. I've got about 2000 miles on it with -0- issues

Great photos, thanks, I can't wait to hang out with you in Baltimore.
    See ya soon.

  17. .

    Back at ya, Alfin32.

I can't wait to meet you and see your car in person.

Looking forward the trip but the 10 hour drive is gonna be a little rough. I'm planning on doing in one day. Bad enough in a daily driver but not so back-friendly in a hot rod. ;)

This will be my office for the trip...

  26. That red one just might be the best looking '33/'34 sedan I've ever seen! All the rides were outstanding.

I hear you, I've got a bad back, and it's 9+ hours for me.
    Here's my 'office'.
I may break it up, and drive half way to a friends in NY, and finish the trip together with his '34 Ford Sedan.
Off to the alignment shop today.

Look at all the padding on those Seats!!! That damn thing is like a Cadillac compared to my beater!:D

That interior looks great. I expected nothing less based on how killer the rest of the car is. VERY NICE...

Longer the trip the better. Was great to see you giving that coupe hell on the track. Then get in drive home:) See at relix riot.

That 34 Tudor is just bad ass looking, but so is your car.
