Wow! Nice job on the E brake handle!

 

Well I cannot believe how long it has been since I last posted. I Got quite a lot done although it doesn't really show. Finished the emergency brake



Worked on inside rear support structure

 

Cut a little out of the grill shell

I have an idea for a grill
Made something up for a steering cover


Tried some wrapping on the steering wheel


Made a gas filler cap

 

Working on a boot
Installed clutch, painted tranny to get the drivetrain together

Did a lot of wiring and assemble as much together as I could. Tore it all apart blasting,painting and baking everything as I went. My plan is to put it all together one last time after the frame and body are painted.
Test fit the rear belt mldg. after straightening it


Decided to finally chop it. A mere 2"



Just to make things interesting , this summer I bought a Juki industrial sewing machine. Been doing a few small projects for practice.

Glad to see you back. Basically, we are doing similar cars but yours is done well. Looking forward to see you post your solution to the trunk lid.

 

Had a knee replaced in fall and all went well. Nothing holding me back now except my other knee. It should go for another year or two. Growing old isn't going quite as planned, but I'm not a quitter.
I had some stainless screening from work that I made into a grill. Am pleased with the result.

Played around with some panel making and upholstery and this is my plan for the interior.

Built a shelving unit for storage behind the seat.

Made a bear claw latch for the trunk lid.

Purchased 2 pair of valve covers from a hamber for a good price. Love this style. Couldn't help but try a little polishing.

Decided it was time to tear this thing apart. Lifted the body off and hung the frame on the rotisserie. for final welding, grinding and painting.

I am pumped to get this car done. It has been way too long. The end is in sight.

 

WOW I would love to see the lists of 2 or 3 things you CAN'T do..

Thank you all for the compliments. I think the trick is to try anything. You learn from your mistakes. Find out why it didn't work and try again until it does.
Goldmountain, Looking good. I'm not quite there yet. I'm trying to set up the other room to make the mess in, although the whole place is a mess.

 

Well I found some ambition and I'm going to try and hold on to it. My plan is to drive it this coming year.
Getting parts ready to put it back together.
Painted the rims a little lighter red to match the engine. Yes red rims.
Made a cart and tilt to get the bottom welded up before installing it on the rotissery.
Made a makeshift paint room for now.
Harley fenders I ordered and can't return. They looked much better in the catalog. Too bulky for my likes. I'll try cutting them down and see how they look.

Getting a little crowded in here.
Paint more pieces.
Then assembly.
Using up a lot of pieces and gaining some extra room. Waiting for brake lines and that will just about finish it.
I'm pleased. Just the body left.

 

That is one smooth frame. These long Canadian winters are at least good for something.

I finished the brakes Also finished the fenders I forgot how time consuming and physically demanding all the filling, priming and block sanding is. Once I got into it I realized it is not as straight as I thought it was. Was having trouble with the trunk lid. could not get the sheet metal to conform to the trunk frame. Screwed up two pieces of 18 gage sheet metal. A buddy had a sheet of 20 gage. Quite a difference. A lot more flexible. Had no problem making it fit.

 

Rather than buying a dozen more clamps, I made a few bucks which worked really well. It is finally done as it was the last big piece on the body. Hope to have the car painted next month. Then I can get my garage back to normal. The mess will be over and the fun of putting it back together starts.

Oh my. You have done top hat stuff in your build. What you have done and are doing should be on a reality car build series.

Well another installment. I love a white firewall.
Installed all the kilmat, except the floor. I don't think I could have done it without the rotisserie.
All prep work done. After 6 months the paint room is gone. Garage back to normal. It is still a mess, but it is a clean mess.

I made a license plate frame. These old plates are a different size than the new ones.


I restored a couple plates. Not sure about the gold frame. Any ideas? I tried white and silver and I didn't like either one.
I have two plates. I think I like the numbers on the lower one better.
I painted the bottom one first, but the clear I used over the white made the numbers yellow. The plate on the car I just used a few more coats of white on the numbers and no clear and it left the numbers white which I prefer. If I use the bottom one I will be doing it over and I might be too lazy.

The yellowed numbers look good in the gold frame. The firewall and white walls are a bright white. don't know if it matters.

Things are happening here. Looks good in paint. I'm glad we picked this color
I was concerned about my bodywork, but I'm happy with it.
Putting it on the frame
Looking better all the time. Adding some pieces.
Had a lot of trouble with the doors. Grinding in the doors for clearance and also on the latches. Not perfect, but will do. Adding more pieces.
Can't wait to see it outside. Hopefully the wiring nightmare will be over soon and I can start it.
