Highest form of flattery is imitation isn't it. ;)
Maybe it was John's picnic I saw it at then as was there as well. But sounds like you got that award anyway so that is good. :)

I dropped in to check progress on the interior today.

It was a bit of a shock to see my car with an almost finished interior. I never pictured it this way.

This is how I am used to it looking:

Natalie stitched up this canvas for me as a temporary interior to get me on the road. I was never really unhappy with it. It went with the home built theme of the car.

I had done some pinstriping for Pat Mesiti, who I think all the Aussies will know, and we did a barter deal. The striping was not worth much so I was just going to get Pat to stitch up a seat for me at a slightly reduced rate. Well one thing led to another and this is how my car looked this morning:

Still some details to finish but I should have it home this week.

Holy shit. I can't believe this work. I did everything on this car so it's really weird to leave it at Pat's shop with a bare interior and then walk in and see this. Makes the rest of the car look like shit.

  9. Pat does killer work. Suits the car perfectly, i.e. it's not too pretty . ;)

Pat has been really good with this. We have talked a lot and he really gets what this car is about. I designed the look and cut all the panels and Pat says he has really enjoyed doing the car because of the "not too pretty" requirement. It had to look like a bare bones OEM style job. We agonised today over whether to put carpet in it.

It is getting carpet but it's a square weave carpet that looks pretty industrial. You can see a little bit of it in the first shot.

In the end if it looks too "Street Roddy" we will lose the carpet.

    Thanks for the comments guys

  21. Yup - that's perty right there! I thought about a Fordson tank for my Modified - reckon the flattie would run just fine on paraffin - or TVO....

No, still not done. More to finish off. Some stuff to re-do. And I just won a set of airbags on Kustombuilder's auction so I'll have to make use of them on my Chev.

    Shit, I don't even own a recliner

Looks perfect. What a great job. The carpet will finish it of nicely, I don't think you'll find it "street roddy" at all. We used some indoor/outdoor stuff I bought at "Home Depot", sort of looks like cordoroy, sort of that industrial look yours does. Made the car seem a lot less "rattlely", if that makes any sense.

Got it back Friday. All done. I'm really happy with the job Pat did. It is very comfortable to sit in now too. The interior didn't improve the leg room any but it's easy on the backside.
