Hot Rods 28 modified build downunder

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by striper, Jul 29, 2008.

  1. Thats how the HAMB needs to be, a multi year thread capped off with a killer car in a magazine, built in a garage!

  2. Err, I beg to differ. In a country where cycle fenders are common, body colour looks....not so nice.

    Hey Striper,

I've liked your car from day one that I saw it and I always reserve time to look it over every time its at a meet...... love that Nailhead & colour combo you have.

But those cycle Guards just Kill it a bit....... I know we need them for our over Policed state and they would have been mandatory for your Red Plate Rego, but can I suggest you paint them Matte Black (instead of the Gloss you have now) to make them blend in with the Tires and get rid of the stainless mounting bolts......

Stay away from Body colour Guards..... They look Crap in my opinion.

Great rod, hope to see it in the flesh someday, i'm not that far from you. If you ever need a car hoist to help you clean underneath, let me know. once again great build. I saw it in chopped before finding it on H.A.M.B, glad i did so much more info here.

Striper I watched the build since you started it here. It's one of the best (IMO thee best). I love it!! I hope you have a blast driving the wheels off of it. It looks like a blast to drive. Please let us know if you start building another car:D

So glad that this was resurected... fantastic build!

So sad too.... you make me very nervous about doing a build thread of my rod in progress!

wow! The bar is set so high now...

  12. the guards are ok they don't over power the look of the car. Hey you do what you have to do...

  13. WOW!!!!! dont know how i missed this thread before but i just sat and read every word of it(including the rego guidelines). then i looked up and its midnight so im off to bed.

btw ur car is just plain cool from every angle, on most cars isee i can usually spot something that id do different if i were doing it, not on this one. hope to see it up close one day soon and have a propper look.

thanks mate and again good work

Striper, I said it before, and I'll say it again!

    Terrific build!

Seen this car a couple times in person and it is shear magnificence.

Personally, I would have changed a dozen things on the car........ If it was mine!

That's what makes Hot Rodding so unique and individualistic. For the best part of it anyhow....

    Happy roadstering!!

    HC.

You know HC. I'm pretty sure I could find at least a dozen things I would change and it is mine. You live and learn.

Thanks for the positive replies guys. BTW it's off the road. I broke my starter motor. Literally broke the cast iron snout. They don't grow on trees you know. New Hi torque on the way thanks to "97" in NZ.

  16. Pete,
I'm happy to join the ranks on record to say it is one of the best built cars in this country. As for the guards - they're growing on me too.

Sorry to hear about the starter, has prof got any spares? You never know what's in the vault!

Congrats on the magazine feature, well deserved and one of my favourite builds on here.
I'd rather run without fenders but will be fitting them to avoid problems with the law.You gotta do what ya gotta do!As far as yours go,I like them.Nicely proportioned and a good fit on the tyre.If you're going to fit them, make them look like they belong there(as you've done),and not an afterthought.Great job!
I'll be painting mine body colour.

I just read this build from page 1 through to the end. This is a really great build and the workmanship is second to none.

Congrats on a really nice looking vehicle.

    Thanks Jason.

Just spent a great day out in it (25*C or 77*F) with a bunch of great guys and girls in great cars. Did about 250 - 300 km, had a bbq lunch and saw some fantastic countryside.

Autumn in Victoria is the best.

  20. Had the pleasure of following this car around for a few of those km, got up close and personal with it too.
You built a very cool car Pete and I have to agree that Autumn In Victoria is the Best.

Looks like no one wants to post pics from yesterday.

Thought I had a back seat for a minute there. If I did, Mark would have been in it

I shot mostly video. I need to get around to editting it into a short movie.
