283 and camel hump 461 heads

Discussion in 'What's It Worth?' started by Snegrah, Oct 16, 2022.

  1. Folks, I have no idea what the value on this is. I put in the parts section yesterday for $750 and then discovered this new site. Help !

283 bored .60 (292?) with 461 camel hump heads. Needs total rebuild. I think the oil pan is 63-65 Corvette 6 quart. I've had it for 15 years and have done nothing with it.

    Thanks,

    Tom

  2. The heads are desirable. Being that the block is bored .060 decreases the value., Although it seems like the 283 is getting hard to come by. In my neck of the woods, the heads would bring around $250-350 depending on condition. Alot of buyers are gonna shy away from a block that is .060 and needs rebuilt. It's a gamble. You might be able to sell the parts separately and come out better.

  3. pigIRON63, thanks for the input! I think certain blocks can be bored to .120 making it a 301??? I don't know if this block can do this or if it's valuable to do so. Do you know if the pan is worth anything?

    Again, thanks!

Lloyd's paint & glass likes this.
  4. Yes, there are a few for sale on ebay $275-$650 used. Looks like a nice one brought $575 on Oct 11, including shipping.
