I have a 283 60 over with sealed power 2013 pistons with valve relief. Sealed power 1-CS274 cam. This will be an old rod car show vehicle. I want it to be old school. What heads and intake should I look for? Are the pistons and cam a good match?
Stockish cam With stock style pistons I’m using 283 power pack heads on mine. The 305 heads are probably a little better but I don’t think they look right on an old style build
283 power pack or early camel hump 283/327 heads would work great. Although a little pricey... early factory corvette aluminum intakes can't be beat. there are aftermarket intakes and heads out there... but they don't have the old school look.
My 30 over 283, double hump heads Weiand manifold, with Stromberg 97’s….. the cam you mentioned , according to Sealed Power, is a stock replacement cam
Yup Edelbrock C3B or C4B would be great You have to run a small diameter distributor with them but nobody in their right mind would want to run one of those hideous Hei’s anyway https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/edelbrock-c4b-c3b-and-c3bx.1213916/
My first car was a '57 Chevy with a stock 2bbl 283 and 3 speed. As a teenager I switched intakes and carbs many times. The best combo for mileage was the stock 2bbl. For performance was a 300hp 327 intake and 500 cfm AFB carb. With a stockish cam you need smaller intake runners to promote torque and low end power. If you want a traditional aluminum intake go with the Edelbrock C4B and 500 cfm AFB. It will run very well. Stick with 283/327 power pak heads 1.72 intake and 1.50 exhaust and higher compression. My heads were the non high compression. The power pak heads will give you free power and run on pump gas. Good luck!
I think the 305 416 heads are perimeter bolt and 58? CC, so should look “normal”. Well. Fill the accessory holes I guess.
