Sure hope someone has encountered this and can****ist me. I swapped a 71 302 long block into my 1964 ford galaxie for the original 5 bolt 289 motor. The car already had a T5 transmission installed. I needed a 6 bolt bellhousing and a fulcrum mount which I purchased from ModernDriveline. My issue now is the manual clutch linkage (a-bar) that connects from the block to the chassis mount will not fit. I thought the motor dimensions of 289 and 302 were the same, but now not sure……. I have cut about 1/4 from each end of the bar, but still too long. Will the mustang linkage bolt up and work, or what do I need to change to make this work ? TIA

You are aware the motor mounts for these are 'sided', right? There's a left and right side, if you have them switched the motor won't be located right.
I put a 5 bolt block in place of a a 6 bolt 289 once. The 5 bolt block uses a longer crossbar. It has to do with the shape of the back of the block.
Onetrickpony, Thanks for that info, that sounds about right. All the info I gathered said the block dimensions were the same. Glad I’m not going crazy……..
