I have a pair of GT-40 iron heads that probably flow just as good.... Intake valve size is 1.84" and exhausts are 1.54"... The chambers check in at around 65cc...

Those look like 271hp heads with spring pockets.

I’ve heard they were good heads, used on some/all? Explorers? Have casting numbers to look for? Thanks.

My instagram figured out that I like head-resurfacing videos, so that's all I've been watching lately

Subscribed! One of my dad's cars growing up was a '64 Galaxy with a high winding 289. It had been a big block 4 speed car but a high strung 289 was swapped in when the big block got tired.
I still have the engine and top-loader from that car.
I'm following these videos and thread.

Maybe 195cfm, With your 65 cc chambers on a 289 I'll bet you make 8.75:1 compression, you'd be on track to 350hp.

Just remember with the Gt-40p explorer heads that the revised spark plug angle can have header clearance issues on older Mustangs Falcons etc.

Don't know the casting numbers but they do have "GT" casted on them....

If they have GT cast into them they are GT40 irons. I have them on a '96 Explorer motor. After that they went to the GT40P heads, which have smaller valves but flow about the same.

Nice work, I have always heard the old SBF heads were bad on exhaust flow. But your video shows a nice clean smooth port that should flow quite well. Combined with the valve pocket work and chamber cleanup they look very nice.
