    Hey all,
picked up a sweet little 289 to stick in my A RPU yesterday, its pretty low so the engine sits quite high,Wondering if anyone has fabbed up engine mounts that look good for this combo, maybe tubular ones with bushes?
    would love to see pics.

  2. This should be fairly self-explanatory.

There's some more info and exploded photos at this months FSRA.org newsletter.

That mount looks great C9, but my block is pretty early(65/66) and doesnt have that hole at all. only the two lugs that face down(centre top of your photo) and are pretty wide apart, about five inches.
dont really want to use the big ugly stock mounts, thinking two tubes angled toward eachother and meeting at a wide horizontal bush.its quite a long distance to traverse, about 7-8".
anyone done this style a thing??
Maiki, you kept offering to lift while I shuffled the stack...your fault!!

    Losquire,
I used a flat plate(1/4") that mounts to the downward facing engine bolt holes.Looks sort of T -shaped. This comes out towards the frame and rests on an early Ford style round rubber motor mount. Then this rests on a modified piece of 2x4 rectangular tubing which is welded to the frame rail boxing plate. This style mount is the same as seen on Mike Bishop's AV8 from his book. Those rubber mounts are available from many places. Sorry, no pics.

Speedway sells mounts for that engine, I believe. Or you can make them easy.

To give an idea, here is a drawing of what we normally use for Nailheads in other frames. Very similar to the Hurst mounts from years ago. Speedway has the universal mounts for $18, and its simple to fab the steel brackets for almost any engine. Hope it helps kickstart the ol' imagination

  8. If you don’t want to fab some, RodTech sells tube engine mounts and gear box mounts, both have flanges that weld onto the boxing plate on inside of the chassis rail, it has 2 bolt set up so tube can be unbolted from chassis rail. I have them for my 31 pickup on A rails with 302 Windsor- C4.
