So I am helping a friend put together a 29 closed cab pickup with a 52 flathead and 37 ****** (parts we had available). I also have a set of 32 pedals. So my trouble is I cannot for the life of me figure out how to mount the pedals, while also trying to figure out the clutch and brake linkage. Also just for info, I have a Tardell 32 k-member for the A-frame. I feel over my head at this point and am just looking for some direction, even if that means telling me I'm an idiot. I'll try to get pics up asap.

    ThanksDavid

  2. I've never used his parts before but would say the leg needs to move outboard to give room for the pedal box. That might mean t******* a little off the forward end of the leg to compensate for the A frame being narrower than the 32 frames. When all else fails call Tardell.

Ok working from old memory here so here goes: remove the mount on the rear of your transmission and replace it with a 32 transmission mount. This is needed to bolt your transmission to the k member and makes the third mountin point for the engine & transmission with the other two points being the waterpumps. The 32 pedal box will now mount in between the left leg of the K and the transmission. The clutch pedal operates the pedal shaft which with a bell crank wil line up with the arm on the transmission throwout shaft fork.

Pm me if you wish and I can scan the instructions on mounting a Tardel k member.

    Hope this helps

You'll need a mount for the master cylinder also. Tardel can fix you up with one. You'll get enough input to figure it out. Also, there's always the book on building an A v8.

  5. AVater, your correct. I didn't pick up on it not having the 32 Trans mount. That also means it looks like he will need to shorten the Torque tube. Hope he don't have the front motor mounts in place.

IMG_1175.JPG The ^^. Yep. Will need to shorten the torque tube. Yes you can call them. Quite friendly and helpful.

I am no expert on this conversion, but I did see about 6 weeks ago a thread on here from a guy in TX who converted a neat running closed cab pickup and it was worth a look.
I did a quick search to see if I could find it was unsuccessful.
If you don't get the answers you need, see if you can find it.
It is a great read all the same...

Gentlemen, thanks for all the help. AVater, I have a pretty good idea of what your trying to explain to me. I will search for a 32 rear trans mount and the specific bell crank to make this work. I will keep everyone update with what I come up with.

    Thanks again David!

True I could not resist. Al took the picture and he reminds me he wishes I took one of him as well.

In all sincerity, if not for you the "50 Shades of Oxidation CA Trip" would have never happened. Many thanks!

Well, too late I'm sure but I did find the link.
Always good for historical purposes in my book.

  13. I am not familiar with the aftermarket K member but if it was stock the back of the pedal bracket would mount against the K member in the rear. It looks like the engine is too far forward or the K member is too far back. The stock '32 transmission mount (which is not what you have) will bolt to the vertical surface of the K member. It looks like someone relocated the brake lever from the top to the bottom of the pedal. I used a stock pedal on my AVATAR and attached picture shows how I mounted the master cylinder. The brake rod coming through the K member is attached to the original pedal.
