Wish I had less projects, more time and more money. This popped up on the corner down the street from me for $500 obo. Says it's a 29 Dodge Bros. Victory, first one I've ever seen personally.
They're fairly hard to find- Dodge only ran the Victory 6 line for 18 months. There were LOTS of updates/changes over that period of time as well.
Wish I still lived in southeast idaho and I would go get that baby today. Have always wanted to do a more door sedan.
They seem to be popping up out of the woodwork around here lately. There are a couple of other cars, I think they are both Fords, for sale near Rigby Idaho as well, one is early 30's and the other one is later 30's, haven't had a chance to stop and get a closer look or take pictures yet. They've been there for better than a month and they are both very visible from the main highway so they must be asking quite a bit.
where about in idaho you at?? i've seen those cars in rigby as well, not sure what they are tho, just like you never have the time to swing in and see
I sold a '28 a while back out of Colorado. Super car, would have loved to keep and build, but my back log of projects is too long already. A '29 is officially not a Dodge Brothers though the moniker stayed. They were bought out by Chrysler in July of 1928. The beauty of the DB were they were all steel. If you look, there's a stamping on the inner door panels that even say "all steel" or something similar. I'd be jumping on that. Mine was straight and rust free and on the wood spoke rims, but no glass, interior, engine, or trans. I sold it for $3K and still think I probably sold it too cheap. I probably have pics in my album still. I do still have a NOS rear fender (trying to remember which side) that came with it...one day I'll find that right guy looking for one!

Hi Don, I looked in you gallery for a bigger pic of your car. I hate to have to tell you this, but... your 29 plymouth is really a 28 or 29 Dodge. 29 Plymouth was all wood, just like all the 29 Mopar cars, Except Dodge. Dodge was all steel way before they merged with Chrysler corp. Your rad shell looks Ply but the fenders with the center crease are only Dodge, as well as the rounded lower corners of the windshield.

Make sure you get the right length hood. At some point, Dodge changed the body from a long hood/short cowl to a short hood/long cowl... it could be the other way around (I can't remember, and Dad's Victory 6 is in Philly), but if I remember correctly, the long hood was early (Dad's is an early '28). Which brings me to the 4 door in your pics- I know that you sadi it was a '29, but I'm thinking it's an early '28.
I really have no idea what it is, I just quoted the for sale sign. It sure is tempting, at $500 it would make a nice yard ornament if nothing else, then I could be the old curmudgeon that turns everyone down when they come in wanting to buy it. I can't believe our local Rat R's haven't picked it up yet.
If ya had a coupe like i do, you'd see there was quite a bit more wood than a model a, even the whole trunk lid structure is wood
I appreciate the coachwork and stampings of the Dodge Bros. products back then. Worked for a serious restorer in the late '60s in Sacramento: Willis Seadlor. Willie came into a '29 Plymouth roadster, peaked fenders, NO rust, had been stored in the basement of an older gent's home since '40. He passed, and his daughter called Willie. We spent 3 days digging out the side of the basement, as it had been 'shored' after the roadster was set on blocks. I declined 3 days' pay for helping, so Willie gave me a gennie '32 frame with all 3 crossmembers for $10! (he then loaned me his '53 Chev pickup to take it home, cross town) I was thrilled with the Deuce frame, but envious of the '29 Plymouth roadster Willie scored for $300! What a beauty. Say, what front axle has that sedan got? 'I' beam? (with conventional spindles or 'reverse Elliott'?)
that would be a good score for the price. mine was a rescue from the crusher. when l got it someone had cut up the roof and cut off the back doors. me and a couple of friends shortend it 7" and are in the process of making it a 2 door sedan. not sure what brand or year mopar it is, but the title says 1930 and there was a ton of wood in it. frame is a TCI style, IFS, 350/700R4 and a 9" ford rear-end with 4-link and coil-overshocks on all 4 corners.
a friend had a '29 Dodge Victory 6 roadster years ago here in Australia , built with a 292 Y block , beautiful car , golf bag storage compartment behind the seats with the door in the right rear quarter , while I had a '29 Dodge DA sedan mordoor , poly engine and torqueflite......I was going to 2 door it but sold it later on cheers Steve in Oz
Wow, can't believe this thread popped up. I'm helping a friend overhaul the engine in a 28 Dodge Bros, I believe its a DB6. We're waiting on engine parts from Egge. One question I have, that I could not find on the internet, is the original color of the engine in the Dodge Bros cars. The engine in this car is grey but appears to have been painted at some time in its life. This car is pretty much original and was owned by the 2nd owner from 53 to 2010. Can anybody help with original engine color? Thanks Brad Outlaw

Attached is a couple of pix of a '30 Dodge 4dr we found in eastern Montana a couple of years ago.. The car had '49 Montana plates on it when we found it. As you can note from the pix the choke cherries had totally engulfed the car. It was quite a chore cutting the car out of the berries with a chain saw. The farmer that owned the property told us his grandfather was taking the car down to the gulley that they used for a dump in 1949, because the engine was dead. The car got stuck on the way to the gulley so it sat there for 60 years until we found it. To all you guys in eastern Idaho.. The 36 Ford shown in my avatar was purchased new in Idaho Falls by a teacher at IFHS.. I purchased the car in September of '52, in IF for $125.

10-4 on the grey for DB engines of that era. Some parts are black, like the side cover. I have a '29 DA that still shows spight traces of the grey, looks like machinery grey. BWT, I wish the Victory was closer, I'd buy it. $500 is an east coast bargain in that condition.
heres a few pics of my friends 30 Chrysler 4 door, its pretty stock, never been off the frame just painted and the interior replaced as far as i can tell, it's not hot rodding maybe but it's sure is nice to work on, so far i have converted it to a dual master cylinder, had the brake shoes relined, replaced the points, plugs, installed a syren, he refinished the wheels and i installed the whitewalls, and i have had the carb off a few times due to bits of crap getting in there, my friend knows he can just call and i would come get him out of trouble at any time, our plan for this winter is to rering the engine, install side mount spares and driving lights, it is a fun old car to run around in and i can borrow it any time i like.
