29 Drag Roadster with DeSoto power....old pics.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kiwi Kev, Nov 30, 2006.

  1. A while back I started a thread about a 32 coupe that C9 mentioned in his book. I mentioned that the coupe owner raced a 29 roadster after the coupe, well here are a bunch of photos of the roadster. His dad owned the DeSoto dealership in Ventura in the 50's. His name is Jim Harris and he told me he bought the roadster from Ron Williams, The guy who race the roaster seen on the cover of the latest Rodders Journal. Anyway there are alot of nice pictures here of a car I really like!

    Well isn't THAT awesome.

I'm actually interested in the slammed '57 Plymouth push car. Is it a wagon? It's definitely not a hardtop.

    <---- has '57 2dr wagon

  3. Gotgas......I have good pics of the push car coming up later.

You know, I wonder if that car isn't Danny's (Dirty2) '32 Tudor. It was a former drag car and is chopped pretty much exactly like that.

  9. Guess the louvered hood is on a Ranchero. These pit shots are taken at Riverside 12.20.59. Jim was a member of the Motor Monarchs at this time.

  13. Great pictures.Look in the background of the picture above.
It looks kind of like the nose of the Speed Sport Roadster,,,maybe.

Here's my dad all suited up & ready in one of his early Top Fuelers. Riversides Fire-Up road,,1959.
Could've been the same day of the roadster pictures.

  16. When I first moved to Ventura I rented a duplex with a big garage right behind Culligan water, Well it turns out that the building that Culligan was in used to be the De Soto dealership and my garage was the very same one that Jim used to race his roadster out of as the duplex was where he grew up, it used to be one house. He also built his 32 coupe in that garage. I remember that the walls were full of old style beer cans!
