  1. Another shot of the 56, taken in Santa Barbara. Ansen traction bars and 90-10 shocks work pretty good!

  2. Oh yeah! HAMB Photo of the Year! :)

Great stuff Kev. So how long have you lived in the US? Are you a real Kiwi (like, you have that 'thing' with sheep and stuff? ;) )

  3. Hey Mate,

This is one of the best HAMB threads I've ever seen.

We used to do the same thing only we went through the drive in called Merles for turn around,

I usta go through there and pull out onto Thompson and burn rubber in my 30 A with an Alexander Banger, usta thrill all the honeys that rode with me.--TV

  5. Brootal....I'm a real Kiwi. Born and raised in New Zealand and moved here in 1981. I'm pretty Americanised now though. About that sheep thing...I'm sworn to secrecy.

brings back memories to me too, I lived in riverside at that time, and went to the first drags there. yep those were the daze, same kinda action in riverside, and Jim,s Plymouth showed he was really 'cool', cuz it was the ultimate sleeper with the hemi Desoto in the plain 2dr post Plymouth, just the thing to blow your doors off !!

hmmm! I have a 56 Desoto engine and a 39 chevy??? wudnt that be cool, wall to wall motor

  7. wow kevin you've come a long way haha. i bet you wish you had that much space to move around in now huh? where is your old duplex at? i'd love to find a place like that. i moved to ventura 2 years ago and these stories are awsome. this is the stuff that makes towns what they are... but they always seem to leave it out of those city history books.

  8. Must be some kind of wide angle lens, it wasn't that big. Next time you come by I'll take you over there, it's six blocks down the alley from where I am now. I think the garage has now been converted into living quarters.

Kev - your RPU was lookin' good in front of Mac's Upholstery yesterday. All those white/red early VW buses made it look kinda sinister in contrast.

  14. Hahaha... It's OK, I didn't really want to hear about the sheep anyway.

So, 25 years in the US. You really must be one of 'them' by now. ;)

  19. Well believe it or not there is another car in Jims scrapbook that looks like a hell of a lot of fun!! Ceck out this 30-31 roadster with flathead power   Jim told me he built it just for blasting around the dry riverbeds   . Now remember this was the mid to late 50's. I know there were hot rods for the street, hot rods that served double duty as race cars and purpose built race cars. Also circle track jalopies but I've never seen a roadster like this built just for blasting around off road! Awesome! A cool peek into the days before dune buggies. I was going to start a thread about this car as I think it's pretty unusual. I have a few pictures of it in action. Should I start a new thread or post them here? or both? I'm afraid alot of people will miss seeing it if I just post it here. Anyway, check this beast out........

Yeah Kev, you're getting bandwidth exceeded messages on your images.

Saw it in the mag thread too.
