The ones on mine have the striker on the body and latch in the door. I really don't like this set up. Always tearing my loops off my jeans. has any one swapped them around?
Whichever way you go, the latch or striker is going to stick out away from the post. On newer cars, the post sort of stepped; which kind of shielded the striker, so it wouldn't catch on your clothes as you exited or entered the car. You might consider doing something similar on the door posts. The older cars had a lower profile latch.
