Since I started my project iv'e been a dedicated H.A.M.B post searcher and noticed that the 31's and 32's are the coupes of choice , so due to my "Fundsarelow Disease " I ended up with a 29' 5 window and would like to see some your 29's
Yeah, don't forget the 28's! And just an FYI, Model A coupes didn't come in a 3-window model (Production model, anyways) so you don't have to call it a 5w Coupe. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=268179&highlight=favorite+model lots of A's there!
Here's my build- http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275112 And here is one of the baddest cars on the planet- http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104217
Fencepost, If you do your coupe like the one above, you'll be golden! I have the magazine with that picture on the cover! That green car inspried me A LOT on my coupe build. Notice the 26/27 T radiator shell?
Haha, I wasn't going to say anything but good call on the wheels. SBC's can be really cool, what engine you gonna run?
Yes sir. By the end of May (fingers crossed) I'll have a full fendered, 4" chopped, four-banger powered coupe to take my little sister to grad in. Eventually it's getting either a Rocket or Nailhead, and wether or not it keeps the fenders then is still undecided. drfreeze, is that your coupe? If so...those wheels gotta go! Sorry man, everything about the coupe is headed in the right direction but those wheels are killing it (for me) Chris, I have a lot of different coupes I use as insperation...I dig the green one I posted, notice the 'peaked' headlight bar for example. I never noticed the T shell, looks like an 30-31 at first glance.
Yeah, and it's got a Y block and the wheel looks like 57ish Ford car...dating it right at 1957ish for the build.
Good Eye on the wheel! I have a '57 Fairlane that I'm selling to a buddy...I should rob the wheel out of it haha...Naw, I have a '40 Ford wheel, 'the old standby steering wheel' someone said they are to common and 'boring'. **** that guy.
i'm in the process of rebuilding a 330 desoto hemi ,3x2 intake and might go with reverse chrome steelies . let me just say i got the car just like you see it and i drove it for about a month and then i found the HAMB and my plans changed fast! let's just say the old lady open the garage door shook her head and went shopping
Thanks I have some 'progress' photos in my albums, not much but it's getting along. I'm further along, but my camera got stolen so no recent photos. I don't post any of it on the main board, I leave it to guys like you, B***, Chris, Flop etc. I need a good 30/31 shell...(*cough* Chris *cough*)
That green coupe was, at least in the 90's, owned by Jeff Tann who was at Rod & Custom magazine. It was rebuilt into a little more modern car, but still tastefull. I believe it was either red or a darker orange and now possibly yellow. It no longer had the T-grille and the rear fenders were bobbed a little. I'm pretty sure it didn't have the Y-block either.
Here's my '28/'29 ''A'', but I actually prefer the '30/'31 in Coupe form, Roadsters I prefer in '28/'29 models. That's MY bicycle in the garage too!!!!!!!!! Nick.
Fraid so!Only a little one though 3'' I'm lookin at. That sounds like something my Wife might say to me!!!!!!! Nick.
I was thinking about how good a 3" wack looks on a 30-31 when I was planning my chop, then I was reminded that the 28/29's are taller by an inch. To get the same ***y-*** profile of the 30/31's I would need to chop mine 4" Your coupe should look really rad, it will have a similar look as SloppySecond's and EVIL's.
I've seen a picture of a '28/'29 Coupe that sat like mine, it had a 3'' Chop and it looked well proportioned(spelling). If you're not goin' so low with the frame mods, then I think 4'' is a NICE Chop! Thanks for the compliment, but I DON'T think mine will be a patch on sloppyseconds or Evel's ''A''s! It will be hopfully similar in style as theres. Nick.
Here's my 29 coupe, chopped 3". The rear crossmember is raised 3". I started with a bunch of rusty pieces, now there's parts from 10 Model A's in the body. Red
