Yesterday My Dad showed me a few pictures of this Model A Ford with Opera windows.
Resized_R(2).jpg Resized_R(3).jpg I fell in love with its oddball look and I'm really crossing my fingers hoping the guy who has it at the moment will sell it to me. I have a rough idea in mind on how I'd want to tackle the project, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high yet, that always seems to lead to disappointment.

whenever I look up pictures of the opera coupe, they all look to be soft tops. but this one looks to me to be all metal, which I do prefer. perhaps someone knows something about these oddball A's?
Just wanted to get some thoughts on the HAMB since I haven't been very active lately

That is called a Business Coupe, model 54-A. Very similar to the Sport Coupe, model 50-B. The Business Coupe had the oval windows while the Sport Coupe had fake top irons. I've seen a couple of the Business Coupes in the Portland, OR area.

If the top is all metal, someone probably made it. I'm pretty sure the Business Coupes had a soft top like the Sport Coupes.

The profile of that top over the doors and around the rear quarter windows is not like any other A's. I think somebody took a rotten leatherback coupe, or even a sport coupe, and made their own roof.

If things go well, I'll get more pictures of it. It'd be a great project for me. I'm applying for a welding school and the frame would be great welding practice.
    So many ideas.

I think you need to post more pictures of the top. I own a Business Coupe and the top on the pictured looks wrong and the oval windows look too large. If you do post more pictures be sure to take pictures of the interior of the roof. The brackets, if any, will be the telltale sign of what this Model A started out as.

That's an auto-light exhaust manifold model A heater. Looks like there still available on ebay.

As do I. Very much so. Rusty let them know I am interested but haven't heard back yet so I'm gonna have to assume it won't work out unfortunately. I may have to track down a different one. The itch to do car stuff again is getting to me.

Can you provide the engine number? I just noticed that you have the early style oil pan.

If you can give me the measurements of the oval windows and count the number of mounting screws I can tell you if they are Ford business coupe windows. Several car's from that era used oval windows in their cars and I have seen fake's installed in 1928 business coupes as the oval window was not available for Fords in 1928. The car that you are looking at could be a '28 and at one time had the top fabricated to make it look like a business coupe.
