Well...unfortunately the roadster isn't going to be ready for the Roundup. It's taken a backseat to the Wade coupe a**** other things.

However, here's a quick update: Eric did come over the other day and helped put the top-end together on the 306, so there is a little progress still happening.

I finally had the roadster outside the shop last week as well, and snapped a few photos. Hopefully I can spend some more time on it in the near future.

  9. You are off to a great start, now if you can only learn how to use that Dial Arc and get some DECENT welds!!!! LOL Beautiful, just shows what a little time and a LOT of talent can do!! Must be something wrong with my old Miller Dial Arc 250 HFP cause my welds dont look like that anymore, or maybe its cause I'm pushing 70!!! LOL GREAT CAR!! Dave

Hahaha! Sometimes I wish I could wake up from 'living the dream' long enough to finish my roadster!

I guess these things just take time...And I haven't exactly had a whole lot of time to work on it lately.

Same here! I bookmarked all the builds you'e posted on here and I keep reading through them. I take a quick look through them before I go out in the garage and work on mine just to make sure I have the right perspective on mine.

I've adopted the "What would B*** do?" motto... I'll be working on something and get so far on it then look at it and say "what would B*** do?" and lately I've been s****ping stuff and starting over!

It's got to be frustrating to not get to work on your own stuff, but man, you've made it! you've achieved that place where you are getting to do what you love for others for a living. Awesome man! I was just talking to my dad about that very thing today.

It is really generous of you to show so much detail of your amazing work, and very intimidating too.

May I Ask, when you set out the holes in things like the engine mount, do you have a rule-of-thumb for the diameter of the hole in relation to the width of the member and the separation between the holes (also in relation to the diameter/s of the holes) or do you just have a good eye?

I really just kind of "wing it." I have a circle template that I use to lay out the holes, and I just move it around until I find a size that I think looks right. After making so many parts with holes, I generally have a pretty good idea what size of the holes and what layout will fit and look right before I even grab the template. Comes with practice, I guess.

Thanks again for the compliments fellas!

Amazing fab work Brian!!! Thanks for posting the progress pics. Really enjoy watching the progress. Can I ask what degree of caster do you set into your front cross member? And how much caster total in the front end?

I like around 7 degrees positive caster at ride height. That's where I set the front crossmember, and it's the same at the kingpins.

    Thanks!

B***, That frame is one beautiful piece of Hot Rod art ! I could be happy with just the completed frame - would be a shame to cover up your purty work !
