I’ve tried to sell this car multiple times but just ain’t nobody interested out here in Arkansas, so I will get back to work and farm out some more parts……I want to start mocking up the pedals but I’m kind of lost, I can’t decode this transmission correctly and could use some help, I’ll post pics down below…. Once that’s figured out I have found a pedal set up from a 36 ford truck and another one from a 39 ford… what’s going to be my best set up for this 3 speed or am I over thinking this? Also while you’re looking at those pics , I think I have 46-48 59AB but can someone confirm that please.. appreciate any help thrown my way.. thanks

Can't offer any help on your immediate questions but certainly would like to see an overall photo of your Roadster. I've been considering a 28/29 Ford Roadster or Coupe as a future project car.

Best wishes on your project Roadster.

According to Mac Van Pelt’s website, the trans is a 1938 yr model. That’s if I’m reading it right.

Yes you have a 59A engine. Your transmission throwout lever is on upside down. If your frame’s X member is built to fit it, the 39 pedal set would work great.

Thanks for posting the photos, GearSlammer. That looks like a pretty nice solid Model A Roadster to be starting with. I think in your first post you mentioned you had tried selling it with no luck, but I'm surprised nobody snapped it up.

Well, I have been building on this for a few years, it was a stock model A, most of the time spent was farming for parts kuz there just isn’t a hot rod culture in my area…. The body hasn’t been touched by me, the PO did some ****ty panel patches and bondo sludge…. Lets see, the rear is now a 40’ with millwork mounts for leaf spring over the top, I split the bones , I got 32’ spindles with bent arm for the drop axle, reverse eyed front leaf, Boling Bros 40’ juice brake kit for all 4, new pressure plate and flywheel, Tardell K member with a 32’ clam shell mount, mounted the flathead and transmission, lots of parts on the shelf waiting to go on as well …soo that’s all the work I’ve done since I got it.. doesn’t look like much now that I’ve typed it all out! Haha

On the pedal ***embly you want the 39 set up which will mount the brake master cylinder and also a straight direct hookup for your clutch.

Does the Tardel K allow the 39 pedals? I’d think it was configured for 32 pedals.

It’s not punched out for anything, I ***umed I would be doing a little fab work but just want to make sure I find the right set up.

I think it’s part of a kit that also mounts the hydraulic master. Maybe the bung is for the pivot.

Welp, the AV8 build is coming to an end for me, a buy stumbled into the shop today and gave me a deposit…. I will be putting my time into getting my 54 Buick back on the road, converting it to an open drive with a 63 riviera rear end and 700r4 on the nailhead …

I had a Model A and bought the brackets from Snyder's Antique Auto to run the stock pedals and wishbone with the V8 transmission, worked great. Since then I've built two V8 A's and used the brackets on both of them, I attached a picture of the brackets on my 30 V8 A. Used the Tardel book on both cars but built the rear trans crossmember out of 2" square tubing and mounted the master cylinder on it too. The stock wishbone works better than split wishbones in my opinion.

  22. Let me guess: You started to fabricate a battery box but discovered you were out of 16- and 18-gauge but had plenty of quarter inch plate. . .
