Ditto, resolution of back issues Marty. I'm still only managing the things that I have to do.

We will show the reinforced tail fin mounting, as we know about the sideload due to a crosswind or other things that can arise. Chris Kopp worked in both of the Indy fab shops for Patrick and Ganassi Racing, along with being a spotter. I am fortunate to have him as a buddy, with his vast experience with high speed vehicles.

Jay, thank you for the kind words, it's great to have an outlet such as the HAMB, to share the building process, with pictures and words, with those of you that have an interest in the goings on in a small shop.

Might look into Voltaren creme......applied liberally at least 4X day......and a nice rolling chair just like mine. I'm glad I made it to 77yrs. old......but it can get ugly. Hope you heal quickly and have some good helpers on the team.

Well, today I was able to get the lower panel made and installed. I wanted the shroud line opening flared to keep from chaffing the line at the enclosure. It would have been nice to make a hammer form, but I did it free hand. IMG_0293.JPG IMG_0294.JPG IMG_0295.JPG IMG_0296.JPG IMG_0298.JPG IMG_0300.JPG IMG_0301.JPG

Quit being so damn humble dude. We all know what you’re capable of and you’re not fooling any of us.

Marty, during part of my mis-spent life I re-built wrecked airplanes. Looking at the tail section you just built, have you considered the addition of at least two more bulkheads, one at the front of the extension and one somewhere in the middle? If it were buck riveted to the lower section of the extension, you could use Dzus or screw fasteners to hold the top section to the bulkheads. Adding some longitudinal stringers would give you a more rigid platform to attach your vertical stabilizer. Heck, you've probably thought all this out, anyway ;)

Alan, the problem is, there is a long Parachute tube that fills the space where a center bulkhead would reside. I am going to build a network of tubes, with Dzus fasteners at the skin, sort of like what the guy's hand is on IMG_3201.JPG . Thanks for your input.

It's a Ferguson, and not built for a tractor.

  17. Sorry to hear about the back Marty. Maybe a little downtime is warranted

Today, I got the chute tube tacked in place, and carefully cut the hole in the surround. Won't be long, and I will be back on the '29. IMG_0308.JPG IMG_0309.JPG

Marty I’ve been following along on this build and I’ve got to say fantastic work on the roadster pickup and the Bonneville car is as well after running at Bonneville and setting a record once I am glad you are posting the work you are doing on it as it has really fired me up to get back out there and run again I’ve even been talking with my crew about getting the car back out there next year my question is the dzeus fasteners you are using where did you get them we used the same style but it was my understanding that they are no longer made and I need some more and was wondering if you have a source for them thanks and keep up the good work

Thank you ! I used to get these Allen Hex Dzus buttons from Roy Fjastad at Full Bore Racing, and got a little chassis building coaching at the same time. When he was closing down, I found them at JEGS, and just bought these. This car has over 300 buttons, as I remember. I hope you guys get the race car back together, and we meet sometime !

He rides his bicycle up here and buys pies from one of my closest neighbors, didn't know I was that close, haven't been in to see him for 6 years.

The best, according to anyone who has tried them. Living here 51 years, I have known him since he was small, and he is an excellent body man/painter, just no time to do it.
