Ha! That 15 minute drive is always absolutely grueling. No clue how many times I went flying by your place when I was in high school driving that Nova I traded to my dad for a Camaro. You know the Nova. Catch up with you soon sir.

It’s always awkward when I reply to something and there’s no interaction afterwards. Kinda feel like I’ve farted in church or some damn thing…

Must have been the reference to the Cacamero, couldn't have been the Nova because we all like Novas, right, oh yeh, Falcons too!

I definitely must have stepped in something. Marty is still AWOL and I know better than to drop in unannounced. The last time I did I was dropping off a BB Gun in the middle of the night. It could have gone worse I suppose. The Nova was a 72 SS and I traded it to my dad for a ‘69 Camaro that I had originally driven home for $800. Marty put a roll bar in the Nova for my dad. Long story with that car and it isn’t OT. I only have a few things “On Topic” for now. A handful of my dad’s trophies and a ‘64 283 Chevy II block that I’ll do something with eventually. So uh, hey @DDDenny any clue what makes those blocks unique?

The biggest giveaway is that all the 64-67 Chevy II/Nova blocks have the recessed oil filter base.

Since I am still working on the Willys sedan, I dug up these shots from Fremont in '88. Notice, "Large Father" was pitted just across from us ! And Sammy Hale is out on me at the start, 1st time out for Ruthless. Image_2023-11-24_0002.jpg Image_2023-11-24_0001.jpg

I’m sure you’ve told me before and I can’t remember but I’m curious where that rail went. Definitely a fun looking ride.

On a side note… did you guys ever find out what RPM that Hemi in the’33 P/Up shown in the pic hit with that infamous start up at Woodburn. We were pitted across from you with the Nova. That was the most shrill, piercing zing I’ve ever heard from a Hemi in my life. Looked over and a pair of shoes were flying across the pit lane. At least there weren’t any feet inside those shoes…

We quit in 1990, and sold the car minus engine to My old friend Ron Gorans. Ron and his son Dan were racing in the hi gear Nostalgia Class at Woodburn, and some other tracks. Both of their cars, Ron's SPE was 195" WB, amd Dan's Dixon was 185, and Ron told me, we will buy it, but I am going to lengthen it, since it was only had a 150" WB. Well Ron passed away a couple years later, and the boys were running as many as three cars for a few years. Sometime in early 2000's I went to Woodburn to spectate, and walking through the pits, I stopped to talk to the boys, and said, "I noticed you haven't lengthened it", and Don, the brother who raced it said, "why would we, it's the winningest car we have" ! He also said, we did have a little trouble with your chassis, I said where, he said, right here, and showed me a dent in the rail, right in the engine area. He went on to say, laughingly, we threw a rod and knocked that dent in the tube ! A year or 2 later, the the car wouldn't pass tech, due to a rule change in shoulder hoop diameter, and they left it set. A couple friends of mine, Tom Prufer, and P-Wood wanted to buy the car to restore and cackle, due to it being a Don Long car, but I couldn't get a call back from the Gorans family. I am not sure of the status of the car now. Here it was right out of the jig, after my race partner Bobby Mead got it on wheels. 2012-09-27 084725.jpg

I definitely said “cheese and rice!” Out loud. Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Thinking you guys tried knocking down the Christmas Tree that same day. Livingston got all spun up and gave one of his famous 10 minute lectures over the PA system. Something about old tires and no burnout had him sputtering? I received one of those over the PA for not wearing a helmet. It was definitely a lengthy lecture. Had no idea that the car was going to be that fast. Whoops. Got all the way back to the pit with my time slip and he was still going off over the PA. I had no idea what he was saying and didn’t realize it was directed towards me until my brother said something while laughing his ass off. Confused the crap out me why everybody was laughing and staring at me. Oh well…

I had a visitor today, it was Sam, @bskustoms. He came to make the slits in the tonneau cover, so he could take it back and bind the the edges, and add the velcro. Good to see you Sam ! IMG_4096.jpg IMG_4097.jpg

Been working along on my friend's 36 Willys. Installed a later engine, and front suspension. It did require a set of headers, that I finished today. A little more to do, then back on the 29, a door bar, and some throttle linkage, and it's ready to take apart and get paint on the frame and all suspension.
