Those center bolt valve covers give away the 90 degree V6.

 

Dale, they came from Summit, however they were advertised as 3/8 thick, and were 5/16. Also they were to fit 1-1/2" tubes and were for 1-5/8". So, I cut some stubs for starter tubes. Not exactly what I wanted, but they will work.

That’s a 4.3 v-6 and Sanderson builds headers for them but it looks like Marty has really given them a tune up for the application I have a set of the Sanderson ones on my model t with a blower and brodix aluminum heads they make good power mine makes 500 plus hp

 

I had a young friend, almost 50, comes and helps on Friday sometimes, and is a quick learner, so I turned him loose on the filler plates. He took some .063- 3003 aluminum, started pounding on the stump, moved on to the planishing hammer, then the English wheel. They lay down nice in the inner fenders.

Nice that you took on an apprentice Marty. And I say that with all seriousness, fifty is young and learning at the hands of a talented builder bodes well for the future of the hobby. Knowledge and experience not passed on is lost forever.

 

patsurf and Larry, the good part is he has a son that is getting finished with college, that is real motor head. Those two will be building all sorts of great stuff. I happen to have some tools and equipment that is extra. They will be receiving it before the Holiday.

Sam @bskustoms brought the tonneau back today with the binding and Velcro in place. I couldn't be happier, thanks Sam ! Now to mount the wheelie bars, and fab the throttle linkage.

Since I last posted on here, I did a quick job on a 32 coupe that needed a tunnel cover. I have since been sidelined with some health issues, but am on the mend. My pal Louie has been guarding the RPU, until I can get back on it.

Very smart trans tunnel, hope you feel better quickly

 

Tim, thanks, I like to keep tunnel covers to a minimal height. So, by rolling up narrow strips and bending the feet flat, and laying a straight edge on top to tell where the ends will wind up. Then using a floppy 1/4” wide tape measure, it gives me the stretch out dimensions at given points. What I didn’t show was that I tig welded the two pieces together.

 

Marty you make it look so simple! I am on my third try at making a tunnel for my brother's 29.

Here is one I did in a 29 roadster, with a flathead and 5 speed.

 

That’s slick looking. Where the two pieces meet is that little tang coming off the forward piece a full shape or is there just a slit that the longer part slides into? I dig it either way.

im also curious how you went about capping the back end. I’m paying extra attention lately because the t86/r10 going into my model A is probably going to need some sort of tunnel. Really enjoy your solutions.

 

I like that Marty! I want to get to the upper two bell housing bolts so what you did there, going up the fire wall looks just what I need. I started making thin straps to get a shape like you did. But the project has been shelfed again till I get this mustang out of here.
