  1. Love the build Marty! I have the same hammer made from my little league bat from my grade school days.

You ruined a family heirloom, good for you. When I played little league, I was a horrible player, too busy watching the cars drive by, and dreaming. I have 3 different sizes, of modified wooden bats, buy them when I find them.

I've found fairly decent wood bats at thrift stores.

A lot of them have a concave scooped out of the end of the barrel. I have a few candidates to modify

I'm guessing that the wood spring spacer is a temporary stand-in...

I was thinking of doing something similar for my RPU with the tonneau cover frame, and here you had a great example. Looks great! Do the rails bolt through the stake pockets or directly to the box sides?

This looks like it’s going to be awesome! To be honest, I’m joining this party way late, so I’ve only seen the first and last page. Looks like it became required reading though. Excellent work @Marty Strode

My box sides had existing holes. So I used them with large diameter nylon spacers between.

Jim Steven’s. The bottom shot is early with a 289. Great car , especially when it had an injected Boss 302 !

IMG_1864.jpg The painter Karl Petersen. has the body and related pieces ready for pickup tomorrow. I am dropping off 25 ch***is related pieces at the sand blaster on the way. They will be at the powdercoater this week. It will be nice to get it ***embled. Hi Marty. Didn’t see you at Toutle? Driver and the car were having some teething problems with new stuff. Big bog off the line, trans brake wouldn’t hold, changing a lot of stuff, always a learning curve. Got the bog sorted, kinda. Called around from the track, Baxter’s Auto Supply in Longview still has a pretty nice selection of speed shop type parts, including Holley parts. That was a nice surprise. That little truck is looking nice. Take care. 535980328_24669815369310234_6281551111238857381_n.jpeg

Sorry I missed you too. Took off early Sunday, stretch of I-5 North through Seattle closed that weekend, Arrgh! Detour was 405, surprisingly not to bad. Thanks on the car, I retired early July, kind of a last hurrah I was able to bring the car to work and get it painted. Not perfect but for being painted in a giant paint shed in an industrial setting not too bad shabby. You take care.

Looks like a late 50's Anglia.

Like Denny said late 50's early 60's Anglia. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...d-c-c-drag-show-at-toutle-washington.1339885/ Take a look at Dennis' thread in the off-topic stuff. This is one of the most fun and well-run events I have ever attended. The Estranged Car Club out of Portland OR. and the people the run Riverdale Race way do a great job.

Doug, this is from page 49.

I stopped by to see my friends at DVC Machine, Dennis and Dave are doing a great job on the 327 for the RPU. It is a culmination of parts from friends and family. The block was given to me by John Rigert, a std bore 1966-275 HP. The crankshaft was out of a stash of parts from my late friend Frank Lynch. Dave decked and bored it .030 to fit the Keith Black pistons, and re-conditioned a set of rods. After balancing the ***embly, Dennis installed a Schneider solid, flat tappet cam, 1.6 rockers, and a set of Edelbrock heads, all from a couple of engines my brother Jerry owned and raced. It will be topped off with a fresh Hilborn Injection and a Vertex Magneto. It should carry the little truck to 7 flat in the 1/8th and 11 flat in the 1/4. Now to take it totally apart to powdercoat the ch***is

The new owners at what was Riverdale Raceway are trying hard to improve the track as much as possible, and make it even better. Hope it gets lots of support and continues to do well for the young couple who now own Toutle Motorsports Park.
