You will deffinitly want to put the body on some sort of cushioned mounts. If not, you get stress cracks in the body panels due to the thin areas and high vibrations. For an example, look at a set of 35-37 Ford PU fenders, the cab sits on about a 2 inch riser maple (wood) from the frame, the front fenders bolt to the cab and the frame directly. Where they bolt to the cab, mine anr totally torn around the bolt holes and where the front fender bracket is.

Unfortunatly, you said you already lowered the radiator, hope its not difficult to raise back up.

Oh yeah, it will settle a little after driving, might want to hold off on making the hood for a while if you do put in the body bushings.

    BTW, it looks awesome!

yep have that all covered already :) no worries. i had to put new body mounts on the frame because the old ones, i didnt care for. these ones sit a little lower and allow for a nice bushing.

That's coming along real NICE Rob!
I also used the flattened expanded metal for an insert. Painted black. Wanted the 'protection' from rocks for my cheapie E-Bay radiator.
I plan on driving it ALOT!

  5. caf - awesome project.. nice to see another NJ rod comming together...

Btw - i've done a hood top.. it's not hard... you can form the bends over a long piece of pipe and a rubber mallet. 16 ga would be best for the strength but 18ga is ok and easier to work with. Then just reinforce the edge by welding a pice of round stock to the inside... Mounting and attaching will take some head scratching but you can figure it out... An easy and cool solution is to tab to the roundstock reinforcements and catch dzus buttons on the rad support and firewall

    Keep the updates commming..
