I have a 291 Desoto hemi going into my 53 Ford Mainline. Are there any install kits available? Motor mounts etc.
Back in the day Hurst made engine brackets and frame brackets for your swap but nothing specific today. I have these engine mounts if you can fab the other half. Depending on your trans choice, there are universal fit-none crossmembers in the catalogues.
The plan is some forms of standard floor shifts trans. I have a T5 from a 5 litre mustang in my tbucket and love it.
Friend of mine put a 291 in his 48 Plymouth ,fabricated his own mounts. Spent a small fortune getting the engine rebuilt for a blower, someone wanted $600 for head gaskets.
If I were headed down that route I’d bend @Tuck ’s ear. It’s close enough to a shoe box that he’s probably got an idea or two
i put a 291/700r4 in my 46 ford. made my own mounts. had the engine with trans bolted up together and in and out no fewer than 10 or 12 times designing and fabbing the motor mounts to get the engine to sit as low and far back as possible, but it works. i had to modify the X member a little also for the pan on the trans
This adapter will put that hemi in front of your factory trans and the you just need to fab mounts. I know hurst made a kit for a shoebox but not sure about the mainline I’m not familiar with the crossmember.
