So being cold here in Tennessee and me being too cheap to heat my garage I have been focusing on researching parts for my chevy l6 292 project for my 51 Chevy DeLuxe.

I bought the book and called a few dealers...now I need some guidance from the Jedi council. when it comes to intakes I am hearing it is Clifford vs. Everybody else.

I have looked at some old school Offy intakes, some "Engine" intakes (have no idea if that is the whole name), and of course the Clifford ones. When I was on the telephone with Clifford I was getting the hard sell for the dual weber kit which, of course, was the most expensive. The dude didn't really think I was serious about simply building a non-drag-strip machine.

So what do you guys say about 292 intakes, street use...but good performance.

I went by Tom Langdon's advice for building my 292. I've only been idling it, and driving it around my backyard so far, but it seems to run well.
I used the Offy 2 x 4's intake, water heated for street use. I used adapters on it and am running 2 Holley/Weber 2 bbl's. They are staged. like a 4 bbl, so they run on a single barrel and the secondary kicks in later. Should be perfect for street perfomance.

Offy 4 barrel with a 390 cfm Holley. Works just fine-but does not look as cool as dual carbs!

i am using a clifford with a 600 holley 4-bbl on my 292. has a slight cam and reworked head with langdons headers. water heated manifold.200-4R, runs very well with lots of accelleration. in a 37 chevy coupe. i like the clifford because of the rounded corners, not the 90 deg turn on other brands.
