I talked to my local trany shop... The said to pull it have the seals replaced. So the body will come off... I will go ahead and redo the trans cut out for the fire wall and finish the trans tunnel. Then it will go back together... At least I know how to do all of that stuff...
Thanks Mark! We named her Christine after the Fury in the Steven King book... '58 Fury in the book... '64 318 Poly motor out of a Fury... And the wife drives a '68 Fury VIP... it came to be afteer we painted her Blood Red...
What size OD and ID did you use for the piece of tubing that bolts to the steering box?? That's the only two pieces that I still have to make for my steup...
Mine is all welded up, so I can't measure it... It was 2" OD and pretty think wall tube. If you want cut the head off the pitman arm and mail it to me, I can have it done for you... I plan on doing a couple of them over the winter just cuz I know where 2 or 3 boxes are...
Jay - Ya it was good to meet you at P+P!! man your sedan RULEs.. I bet your itchen to go for a ride.. I know the feeling!! One word of advise.. Be carfull with those Red fuel lines.. the tend to dry up and crack.. leaky gas = fire.. Just lookin out.. if you do a search on it it's been covered.. Keep at it dude.. its really cool...
Long awaited update.... I got fissed and walked away for a while... Pulled the whole front half of the car apart and sent the trany to the shop. A few big bones later, it is good to go. I took a slack approch to building ever since... Build the car. Then find a show. So I built the trans tunnel and reworked the fire wall... while it was all out....
Today the engine/ trans went back in. We got the drive shaft trans lines, radiator, head lights and carbs are all back on. I still need to do the throttle, carb and shift linkage, wireing and hook up the gas tank. I'm sure there are some odds and ends I'm missing... But no rush, I'll get to it....
I wish they did more with me... They like the bead roller, so it is easy to get their help for that. I got a second welding helmet for Christmas, so they could watch. They thought that was real cool. Do you want to make a road trip next weekend? *****on-up, Beer & BBQ?
I knocked out the ignition wireing, started on the headlights. Still have the break light switch, tail lights and gauges. Need to mount the gas tank and battery and build seats...
Shift linkage is in. I need a bracket to mount the throtle cable and kick down cable to the carb base. The Lokar mounting bracket does not fit my 8BA 3x2's... Any ideas?
Difficult without a pic,Jay but, what about a flat plate drilled to fit on the studs for the rear card, shaped to suit and drilled to take the Lokar bracket? If that makes sense.LOL Mark
Good to see you back at it... most important thing to rmember is to have doing it. Hope you and the family can make it out to the Thaw with or without the 29. Take Care
Peck... Yes to LSR! Big Tony... We will be at the THAW for sure! The Sedan will not make it. I'm trying to go slow, not rush anymore... This way I AM having more fun...
Making progres... just not much to show... Dash, headlights and taillights are 90% wired. Grounds are hooked up, Battery box is done. Gas pedal is in, Bracket for the shift and throtle cables done. I get the linkager right on the 3x2's, finish the wires and adjust the axles and breaks... and the gas tank needs to be mounted after I'm done welding in the floors... I still need to build the seats and get some glass etc...
Good progress,Jay.Wish I could say the same.Drove my Jeep(daily driver) into a Rangerover a couple of weeks back so,I have to fix that first. Mark.
