I have not posted any new progress on my 29 sedan in a while. I have been making slow progress, but progress either way. I found the Model A body in a old farmers field where it sat under an oak tree for 30+ years. It took me 3 or 4 months to warm him up and talk him into letting me buy it. I brought it home in April and got started. http:// I June I learned some things about channeling over the floor links (and thanks for all the lessons guys) I was stuck and thought I really screwed up everything. Simple fix. On July 4th my wife and I, with a little help from the kids, chopped 4 off. It was 100+ in the garage, but man it was cool! <O The 64 318 Poly motor is rebuilt and bolted to a 727. It is bored .40 over with a mild cam. <Ohttp:// Fast forward to 10-31 We rolled it out of the garage for the very first time for some Halloween fun. The neighbors thought it was a blast. We hung out in the driveway and passed out the treats. <O I built my first set of lake headers the next day. Not perfect, and I will be re-doing them at some point. Just cuz it bugs me <O></O> I painted the engine to match the wheels and wish bones, mounted the radiator. Today is about plumbing and wiring. I hope to start the little beast in a few weeks.
Those carbs sure do sit tall and proud atop that 3x2! That 318 poly is truly badass! I don't know why more people don't run 'em, and make 'em out to be such a huge deal, when they're really not - I mean, you can get parts at any local NAPA! You totally realize that I'll be pointing your car out as proof that the 318 poly can be cool throughout my advocacy... ~Jason
I'm glad. I set out looking not to do the standard SBC. I have a very cool old school Mopar guy near by that showed me the light... eerrr the dark side... LOL.
Lookin good from here! I dig the mopar in a ford too, I've got a '67 LA-318 powered '34 pickup. Keep up the good work.
And FYI - if you guys ever need any 318 Poly help, or want to swap from an LA motor to a 318 Poly, feel free to hit me up for any info. Wowsers, that oil filter is still pretty close! What did you ever do about that? And those header flanger really are pretty nice, aren't they? Are those the ones Big Dad made from the life-size (or nearly) head diagram I emailed? How do they fit? ~Jason
Very cool choice of motor, You can run any motor out there and make it cool with multi carburation. This sedan is really taking shape and having the family to help out make it even that much cooler. Keep up the great progress. Rusty
Yes- I have an old rotator/ 90*... It just needs to be sand blasted, painted etc... I have to pull the motor again to paint the frame, so I will install it then. Yes- Big dad's buddy Greg made them. This guy has EVERYthing you need to make something out of metal! And willing to do one off stuff for guys like me. The fit, well, we did a couple of trips back to the mill to get'em right, but nothing big, just fine tune stuff. Jay
Thanks TMan. I have tied to stay modest with everything, but still doing it the way I think looks right for me. How did the subrails turn out in yours?
Big Dad! how are man? I need to be driving it... I'm looking at a long list of to-do's... My plan is to get the engin fired up to light a fire under my rear to get done. I would love to make the round up this year, even if it is on a trailer... Thanks again for hooking me up w/ Greg! headers are great!, he will be hooking me up with some cowl steering parts and a pitman arm as soon as I get though the Christmas crunch.
Jay! It looks fantastic and I'm proud of you! Now get it done! Did I mention that I'm jealous you're going to be on the road before me!? HAHA!
Great job Jay! It's really coming together. You've learned a whole lot along the way also. I'm glad you're building it with quality and taking your time to do it right, and not totally going for the Tetanus Shot Special. Great work! Can't wait to see this sedan at some up-coming shows!
I had a few extra days off over the Christmas break... and after the food and family, some work got done. I did a bunch of stuff, but won't bore you...It sure felt like a lot more hours than the pics show... A big thank you to Voodoowagon (Kevin) for lending me a hand!! HAMB buddies are the best. I replaced some rusty panels etc. Wished I had more tools though. I did it all with a break and the ole hammer'n'dolly I did some sanding and got a body filler lesson from another buddy... did some more sanding... and some more. Now I know why so many of y'all say you hate it. i don't hate it yet, but I'm working on it. The best thing we got done is the Cowl steering mock up. Viva la HAMB again! Hey guess what, I used the search feature... lol Thank you Dreadman and Scootermcrad for the cool posts! I'm not done getting it bomb proff, but is is located and ready for more steel. Thanks for looking. Jay
