Having issues with the carb on my 318, so I went online looking for a rebuild kit and found "new Carter carbs" for $74 bucks ($100 with shipping). This seems really cheap for a "new" carb and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these. The add makes a real effort to make these look like they are American made with flags, ups symbol, and a company name: "US STOCK". Nowhere does it actually say: made in USA. To me, this screams: made in Asia.

Looks just like my carb in the pictures without "Carter" stamped on the side.

What do you think? Worth it?

How cheap is a kit and how much do you want to learn.

Found new 94 on Amazon by accident, also $100,
    • Brand new replace carburetor for Ford 94 2 Barrel Fit Ford Trucks Flathead V-8
    • OEM factory product , brand new replacement Flathead Ford style carburetor.
    • I guess this item fits 1932 to 1953 Ford Trucks with flat head V-8 engines.
    • Factory Direct Pricing and Product Support.
    • High-quality and original packaging
Never saw "I guess" in application before...this raises questions, like WTH and where izzit from? Are we about to see a major wave of carb knockoffs?
    • More relevant...these 318 2 barrels are not complicated. Take your time, lay out the parts in order, follow the instructions on float level.

Oh I have no problem rebuilding the carb, looking for the carb kit led me to these comparatively cheap carbs and it peaked my interest. The only number I could find on the carb (still bolted to the engine) is: 2076, and I haven't found that kit yet. Rock Auto has some kits for 2bbl Carter carbs but nothing with that number. My engine and transmission supposedly came out of a 69 Cuda (just like every sbc came out of a vette!) and the kits they have are supposed to fit, but the numbers aren't the same. 0206171143.jpg

the tags for these are easily lost - they were a copper tag that went under one of the screws.....some of my mopars have these carb.....without a tag I usually just get a pre 1968 carb kit....so one for maybe a 1964-67 273/318 mopar....

I was hoping someone would tell me whether these carbs work or are just Chinese junk!

Be kinda nice to have a shiny new carb...

Carter was proud enough of their products to put their name on each and every one.

The BBD's are identified by tag only, the 2076 is a casting number, and totally meaningless.

Since I manufacture and sell kits, in today's throw rocks at everyone for anything they post at***ude, it would probably be a conflict of interest for me to give you an opinion on a carburetor that someone is insufficiently proud to cast in their name.
