Last year we had a lot of people show interest when I first announced that we were doing it but only a handlful of people built bikes. Like a dumb ass I never did announce it on the HAMB last year. Right now I know of 9 bikes coming locally for sure. We would love to see you and your brother there.

Well, I'm in. Maybe I'll have two bikes by then. Should make for a fun road trip regardless, so count me in.

Here are a couple of bikes a guy in San Jose did for my buddy, he owed a little cash and made good with these. I got a pretty slick 3 wheeler out of it myself.

I've been spreading the word to some of my buddies. A few of them are more local than I so it is a possibility. I really hope the turnout is good. I've been chipping away at some of the custom aspects of my build. I've only got about $100 invested so far.

It's not about how much you got in it. It's the creativity behind it and the ideas in the project. Most of all it's about the fun.

I am still too far to join in but here is a new toy i picked up. Can anyone tell me what year this might be? I didn't get any info with it but would like to know something about it. It is missing the seat bracket to mount the seat...has anyone seen one like this? How does the seat mount? Should i restore it? or Trick it out?
    watcha think?

I got this yellow BMX sytle bike in a junk swap (his junk for my junk). The story is it belonged to his nefew when he was a kid (he just turned 50 a month or so ago) and he used to race it in our area.

The other bike is my 3 wheeler for the build off. It has been spray bombed since the pic. Looking forward to this. :D Gene

  14. I am having enough trouble putting my Blammo together...but those bikes are killer.

Gotta pick up some 990's and drill the Pitchfork for brakes. Probally change the bars - the ones I have are bent, and I my buddy has some FBM kneesavers I can probally get.

These were made in the 70's under a variety of names and are heavy as crap. I've had about five of them over the years, and currently have two. One is in pieces and the other is my pit bike for the drags. The suspension makes for a very comfortable ride around the pits.

i checked out that ratrodbikes site. theres some pretty cool bikes on there...

  19. ...whats the site for the ratrod bikes?

  20. ...I built this "upside down" bike and actually rode it , but almost killed myself (steering problems) so I took it back apart and moved on to somethin a little safer. If someone wants to try to build one of these, be my guest, you'd probly have the only one at the "Bike Build-off " !

My brother and I built one of these when we were kids out of a 26 inch girls bike, it was really tall. This one was a 20 inch.

If you turned the forks around backwards it probably would have corrected the geometry a little bit. It's pretty raked out the way it is.

Also of anyone hasn't ever been here:

Man, some great stuff!!! Keep it rolling in!

GREAT idea by the Zettle's! Wish I could make it!

  25. ...Part of the problem is getting the handlebar stem tight in the fork top,...this was just a pipe down into the fork with a thru-bolt which wouldn't tighten it up enuf so when you steered it had some slop in it, so you steered some more and it'd flop over all at once and then you'd have to try to correct for that. I may try to re-do it sometime and get it to work better.
...I know the fork was raked out but it sure looked neat that way.

I probably already asked this question, but I'm getting old and forgetful....What time of the day does this wing-ding get started? Hate to show up at noon only to find out it was over at 10, almost as bad as I would hate to get my sorry butt up at 0-darkthirty to find out it didn't start until noon.....

And be a litle more specific where the shop is in the wonderful berg of Foreston, for those of us not in the know.
    Thanks.
