Here are a few I snapped today. WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!! Great weather, and this event gets bigger and bigger every time. Rocky, I'm glad we got to help out, the girls and I had a fantastic time as always.

Caught some evidence of this hoodlum ripping around in his dune buggy....

And that's all I took today. I was too busy running around and trying to help park cars. (and talking shit with my buddies!)

Yeah it was pretty comical seeing that guy jump in the golf cart and go after you!! You were in a field, not in the middle of the childrens church choir. There was no chance you would have even come close to anyone. Some people need to chill out :D

Both Gasser Jeff and I had a great time. The guys and gals running the event were great, very helpful. Getting to line up next to buddy in his Dad's Model A was something very special. We've worked for the past 3 years almost non-stop to get to this point. Thanks to everyone involved with the Eagle Field Drags.

Rocky, AWESOME event. I really appreciate the invite, and can't wait to be back next year!

I was too busy to get any pics, but my buddy mike got a couple clips....one is the Birds first run, and second, is the unfortunate crank snout breaking last run. Took it real easy off the start, but then had some fun with it. Very little traction at all....I need more weight in back. The Hemi next to me was a good match until I got too excited and bounced it off the rev limiter forgetting to shift into 3rd. The announcer called it a "lean misfire" hahaha. Good times. The crank snout broke in the second video....overtightend pulley tensioner by a crew member. BUMMER.

  14. I have a couple of videos of Carl, I'm going to have them up a little later. I think he also has some onboard footage if the camera was turned on.

  15. Did anyone get video of the Turlock swap meet car? That was wild!

    Mctim,

Thanks for the video.. This pass was probably my best pass. The other couple passes the truck was coming out from under me and I had to peddle them.

The first one I was going towards the big field on the left, lifted to 25-30% throttle for 2.3 seconds according to the datalogger, got it figured out and ran the Mustang down. Not sure that I completely caught him but I think I was at his front fender when we crossed the line. I was told the anouncer said something about "missing a gear" Hard to do with a power glide that has a shift solenoid set to a specific rpm.

The second pass was the Comet and that was a good race, pulled him ever so slightly.

The third pass would have been a great run had I not needed to lift. It was a Chryslter pited right next to me. He said it mph's 128 at sac. He got me a little out of the hole and about 60' out the truck had to be peddled again. He got about 2 cars out on me and once back in it, were stayed the same distance, basically the same exact mph for half the track. Had we come out close to even and both stayed in it, it would have been bumper to bumper.

    Rocky,

Thanks for the great event. Lot's of people and lot's of fun. We made it out there late Fri night (12am ish). Was hoping to get there a bit sooner and hook up with the band (brought my sax), but that's ok. BBQ'ed and hung out with my friends till about 3:15am, went to bed waking up to the sound of engines starting up at 6:30.

I can't imagine how much time, energy and man hours goes in to this event. I am planing on being there in October again. I would not be suprised to see it grow some more. I am going to guess that the swap meet will definately start to take off once the word is out. Once you set a date and get a flyer together, I will be posting it on a few other boards and printing some to take to my local car shows (some are geared towards rat hods).

The only suggestion I would have would be an adjustment to the lanes leading up to the staging area. There were times the rails or gassers needed to go to/from the track and the door slammer/hot rods were in the way. I know it might be hard, but if some tall road construction cones where put up with caution tape two cars wide for the door slammers/hot rods and a single lane next to that for the gasser I think it would help to keep things a little more organized. Obviously it can't be like that all the way down the road we line up on, but as much/far as possible with say a couple 50ft breaks to let people cross and get out if need be.

Oh and Rocky, can you magically make the wind disapear, I heard a bunch of people crying about it and the dust it caused :)

Thanks again for the great event and place to have fun with other car people.

Tim, there was a few people that came over and showed Rich some video of his run while we were loading up the car and all his gear. They said they were going to post it online and E-mail it to him as well so as soon as Rich gets it I'll have him post it here! That was a wild ride, glad we didn't have to load up a big red ball of racecar at the end of the day. It was all in good fun, Rich coulden't stop laughing and smiling back at the pits!

  21. Just a little perspective from an ol fart who just had a wonderful day out at Eagle. Someone once said "If you build it they will come". Well Rocky and and all of the volunteer staff and everyone involved, you built it and they came. We left out of Roseville on friday morning to a beautiful day made it down to Eagle by two. When I turned the corner after picking up my package I was surprised by all the people already in attendence. It looked like three times as many as last year. With the help of Roc we made it to our pit and set up camp for the night.

It was great talking to those there on friday as it is the only time we have time to really chat. Great to meet Tony and Kathy Lloyd and get a real close up of the rail, what a beautiful piece of work.

It is also time to see all the HAMB guys and shoot the shit. Catch up with Lee as he is trashing on his digger. Got a chance to meet Gary with the Flathead Express and jaw with him. Finally got to shake a paw with Skipper and say Hi, see the HAMB can be something good besides all the time we spend on it, its great to put a face with a name. Then there is just the feeling that comes over you when you are at an event that you have looked forward to for a long time and you realize that hey this is it.

Carl, It looks like you had a TON of fun!

Tim, thanks for the videos! Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until I return home in two weeks to watch them- this company computer won't play them!

Rocky, I just wanted to post again and tell you how much fun the girls and I had. This was my last weekend before my surgery, so I'll be laid up for the next three months. My back was really giving me problems, but I did what I could. Setting up the camper by racer registration was fantastic. Front row seat to hang out with all of our friends. Ryan and Jason were blown away by the event, and were very thankful for the chance to volunteer. I spoke to a few people that were there just because they saw the article in Hot Rod magazine.

Thanks to eveyone who bought a T-shirt at the event .....without you this event wouldn't look as professional and the event staff would be hard to find... LOL.

ALSO...I'd like to thank the guy on the red pit bike for challenging my boy to a grudge race in his junior dragster.....he was grinning the whole way home....has been telling all his friends about it too.... and thanks to ROCKY for letting him make passes at this "NOSTALGIA" meet.
