Ok, I'm about to pull the trigger and buy either a 2x1 or 3x1 intake for the 261 in my 57 chevy 1/2 ton. I'm leaning towards the 3x1 Offy with Rochesters. Can anyone share a little real worl experience with this set up? This isn't going to be my daily transport, just a toy. I'm not a "carb" guy and I'm worried about how big of a pain in the *** it's gonna be to get it runnning and keep it there. Thanks, Bob
3 works better if they are set up on a progressive linkage. I perfer a 2x1. It's easier to tune. 3 carbs look very cool I just perfer the simplicity of 2 carbs. Thats just me though. Lots of guys run 3 carbs and have good luck with them.
I'm running an offy 3x1 on my 54 chevy....built my own progressive linkage, mainly runs off the center, only hits the two outter carbs if necessary (not offen...) i've run both, the 2x1 just make sure you got them both matched carbs and flowing equal. 3x1 might be simpler if you aren't a carb guy....kill the idle circuit on the outter carbs, attach them together, make sure the center is fully functional (idle circuit) get it to run good on the center carb and make sure you can fully cover the outer carbs and no changes in idle. and somehow attach the linkage from the center to the outers at about mid to 3/4 throttle. fairly simple as i was able to do it and got about 10K on mine without problems
