Lets talk carbs on a flathead. 3 Holley 94's set up on a progressive linkage. Carb 1 and 3 are set up as dump carbs no idle circuit no power valves. Strong running Flathead. Sparkplugs on both banks first three cly on each side perfect. last cly on each side plugs sooty and misfiring. Fuel goes through each carb progressively carb 3 carb 2 carb 1: Question Is the pressure over riding carb 3 float Is the #3 carb leaking fuel Should I lean the main jets in carb 3 What do you guys think, overall motor runs excellent no hesitation but does load up at idle. Thanks for input
Check the jetting size on the center carb...... Does this carb have a power valve of some sort???? That I don't know....
Just some things you may not know,94's have new type power valve,< even just one back fire can some times blow the dyaframe=now power valve is crap an will just be super rich an car the did run good, then runs like shit' . Older 97s don't really have that happen an is why many like them better///how ever 94's are great carbs too,I block off power valve an rejet up one size at sea level/For you higher up, may need bigger. Now a few other things, fuel PSI in to carbs can't be over 5lbs/better at 3 lbs.<that's what I run "3lbs"max. The brass floats some time leak an sink a little to all the way+bad from a little rich too as much as over flow. With 3 carbs with center being idel, ends must be very close to full closed, but just bearly open so there is a just little flow befor opening so no bogg. Both end carb are best set with "Unasink"
