I made this set-up fron 2 union tees, 1 5/16 inverted flare to 3/8 hose ******( He said ******) and 5/16 in. hard lines with 3/8 fuel line to the pump. I tried to be as neat as I could, but hope this is a workable set-up. Total cost was about $15. Union Tees were $4.65 ea., hose ****** was $4 I had the hard lines, clamps, and hose.
Any comments and suggeations would be appreciated.
    Thanks, John

FWIW, I was going to ***emble the same kind of set-up for my three 94's (on a 322 Nailhead). I ran the idea by Jere Jobe of Vintage Carb and he said, because of the overall low pressure the 94's required, this set-up might starve the last carb on the line. I went back to three hoses out of a fuel block on the firewall. Don't know what kind of pressure your carbs need, but it's worth checking out.

Hey, heres some pics that work. :)

John has an awesome attention to detail. Thats one reason why this car is gonna be really cool. Now if we can just get him to put some bias-plys on there :D

Yes it will work, no I don't see a problem with it starving the last carb. Have you ever seen a stock set? They did not use a fuel block on the firewall. Now set the body and fire that thing up!

  11. how come you did steel lines at the carbs but (ugly) black rubber hose from the tee to the fuel pump? Doesn't NHRA ask for 12" or less rubber hose in any one stretch?

If you plan on keeping it that way at least put a 90 degree fitting on the end of the hard line.

Yeah, why not put one more hard line between the pump and carbs, instead of the rubber hose deal?

    Very nice car BTW!!!

  14. i would stay away from that much rubber hose, just get another 3/8" hardline, bend to fit and run a flare adapter.

you've gone this far with excellent detailing. Don't wimp out now. The first impression is that you got tired of the details and slapped the hose on there just to get it running in a hurry. You won't have to worry about starvation with 3/8 lines and a modern mech pump.

Your engine has some very pretty detailing.

The rubber line will be alright. I've run my 3 deuces like that for a couple of years now with no problems. Gives it a little more traditional look to the set-up. Every thing does'nt have to be shiney to look good. Just my 2-cents!!

  17. I agree with the others. Bend up a hard line to the fuel pump. And also plumb in one of those small in-line fuel filters Edlebrock makes.

I ran a hard line from my stock fuel pump using AN fittings. I had to cobble up a fitting for the pump from a couple of other available fittings but it was no big deal (pictures).

If you are going to mount your alternator on the right side of your motor it would be a good idea to have it in place when you bend up the lines.

I used stainless steel lines and fittings on my 348. The advantage is the stainless will not rust and therefore does not need to be painted. It can be taken apart and put back together with out worrying about chipping the paint. It can be left satin or polished. Disadvantage, it does cost more than the steel and br***. I got all my stainless tubing and fittings from Mcmaster-Carr. www.mcmaster.com

I'm not crazy about that long rubber fuel line. It's not so much about the look as the saftey of hard line. You need some for some flex and vibration, but my dad had his dual quad '56 chevy convert burnt up because he used rubber hose instead of hard lining it. It's a tough way to learn.

  20. Nice looking set up in a right hand drive hot rod. I'm putting my old 60 Impala 350 horse 348 back in my 59 El Camino, 4 spd and 4 11 posi, and a full set of polished Torque Thrusts, black walls, of course.

  21. Looks good.

I'm with the guys on running hard line from pump to the first T.

You do need some rubber for vibration induced problems, but you don't need it between pump and carb.
Factories ran solid line pump to carb for years.

I like seeing stuff done like this, did more than a few of them for dual quad setups back in the day.

Makes me think a little bit about my dual quad setup, but I like the home-made aluminum fuel log so well that I'm sticking with it.

Even so, I can still enjoy a well done one on another car.

I didn't run hard line because I was under the impression the hose looked more "old school". I guess I was wrong. I will bent a hard line if everyone thinks it is safer and looks better.
Thanks for the comments, keep them comming.

I bennt and flared the other lines. I can bent the line from the tee down to the pump...I give.:D

  25. Lose the soft hose (pressurized, a fire hazard), to finish off the *****in' look. No starvation anywhere with 3/8 line.

So your saying to run 3/8 line from the pump to the first tee? The other lines are 5/16. I do have a 3/8 line from the fuel tank to the pump.
    Thanks for the comment.

    Bib,
I have a canister style fuel filter mounted on the frame ahead of the pump.

i just finished my tri-power on my 29 highboy---got the hard line from Vintage Speed---I've seen posts on here on some problems with them--but I've had good luck---I needed to connect the top line to the pump---used a pressure gauge and looks good.

I am very surprised that no one has mentioned the VERY important WOODEN clothes pin that prevents vapor lock.It should be clipped onto the line from the pump before the first tee. VERY TRAD!:p
    Brandons Grandpa,aka smart***
On a serious note, really nice work.
