Hey guys, I just installed a 3 deuce set up on my motor last night. It's an Edelbrock intake with Rochester 2 jets mounted on a 355. Supposedly, it was adjusted and dynoed right before I got it. (still had the tag on it) I let it sit for about a year before installing it. It was running pretty rough when we first started. The more I ran it, it started to come to. I adjusted the idle on the center carb and finally got it to idle pretty good at about 1000rpm. However, I'm still having trouble idling while in gear. Does anyone have any advise or information you can offer? Thanks.
Did you run that motor with a different intake/carb? and if it did idle good then...I would likely say you may have an intake gasket leak. There was a similar sbc tripower thread a while back and that guy did find a leaky gasket; I think it was due to shaved heads or block and just needed a better gasket material? or it may have been the front and back rubber seals being too thick to allow the side gaskets to seal.
Sorry guys, I missed the intro.... just posted one in the newbie section. I've got this in my 1970 Chevy truck. It's a 355 with a mild cam. It had a low rise intake with an ancient Holley 4 barrel on it before. I just had a wild hair to try these out. After tinkering some more last night, I found that it's loading up. It'll idle when first started..it's fine when driving or if you punch it...but it's after you've driven it when it's start acting up. I drove it a few miles last night and when I pulled back it the driveway it died and I had gas running out of the front carb. I'm thinking maybe the floats are sticking. However, I didn't get a chance to pull the bowls.
Hey, if anyone's interested.....I just found this link to an old 3 deuce service manual..... http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/booklets/5802top00.htm
