This has been driving me slowly crazy for way too long.
Having seen hundreds of cars with 3 spoke steering wheels why are so many installed, in my mind, incorrectly? Shouldn't the spokes be at two six and ten clock positions with the front wheels pointed straight forward?
Is there a secret to it?

I don’t think there’s a rule. On mine, having spokes at 2, 10, and 6 allows the gauges to be seen. Different gauge placement may make it easier to see with the spokes at 12, 4, and 8.

It’d bug me to see a wheel at 1, 5, and 9, but it might work better for the driver.

I thought it was 10, 2, and 4. Or was that Dr. Pepper?

With a real even spaced Covico, I always put them at 12,4, and 8, for the most comfortable grip position. On the later wheels , made after the SEMA gauge viewing mandate , I put them at 10,2 , and 6 : D1C6D45C-359F-4A4F-8E16-20B294517633.jpeg C5667B05-6E89-411D-B1D7-5DF9C3122292.jpeg

Never installed one that wasn't setup at 10-2-6 for spokes.

Can not think of any factory installed three spoke wheel, with the center spoke at high noon...

I'm with the 10 and 2 up guys. Easy to see gauges and you can hook your thumbs over the spokes when doing your Johnny road racer stuff.

But when it stops working, it’s not even correct twice a day!
