30-31 radiator

I know this has been asked many times, but I am not looking to use a Mustang radiator ora nything like that. Just looking for the best place to get a ood deal on a v-8 Radiator for a 30-31 Model A. It will only be cooling a stock 305 backed by a 700R4. The ****** will be cooled through an external cooler, just need to cool the water. What is the best bet? I know Walker is the best, but I am trying to be cost effecient. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey! I have a radiator that might be something you can use.It came out of a 34 ford street rod,it is ment to be installed at an angle like the 33-34 grille,but you can fab up brackets...$150 firm,I live in Gettysburg PA but my brother in law lives in Harpers Ferry WV,and I could shuttle it to you thru him?? Also I work in Baltimore sometimes if that helps.Thanx,Steve

 

Keeping the convo going, good topic. Not to steal this thread but I would like to know what else fits as far as for radiators.. The walker is $250+ right where as the 66 mustang rad is $150 . What are you looking to spend under??

 

When was a Walker radiator, $250 +???, 1981, nowadays a Walker will set you back more like $600 +++++++++.

 

250+...350=600

 

Get a Walker, it'll fit perfectly and you'll never worry about overheating. Money well spent.

 

I use the original -30 radiator on my 283cid. No problem with overheating. Uses electric fan.

 

Wow, the original. I have never heard of anyone gettign one to cool a small block....interesting. Yeah a Walker for $250......

$590 for their second line "cobra" radiators. Probably ok for West Virginia. Their Z-line radiators, almost mandatory for a place like Texas, go for around $750. But it's money well spent.

I don't think you're going to find a much better deal on a quality radiator, especially one built to fit your car with all the brackets in the right spot.

The Walker does COST a good bit of money but ... they are not that much money when compared to replacing the engine because you saved a few bucks on a cheap radiator

You may have a mild mannered engine now, but if you want to step it up ... what then ?? Go ahead, spend the money and buy a good radiator and a shroud. The Walker fits great and works even better. I also suggest using a raised up ZIP's water pump riser. It raises the fan 5 and 1/2 inches and allows the use of a LARGE fan. The ZIP's also has the alternator and A/C brackets cast into it making for a neat installation.
