The title is what my nephew would like to do. I think people should drive what they like. I think people should wrench on what they like. But I've told him on numerous occasions he should probably start with something: - with better replacement parts coverage / repop coverage - starting with something that's close to remotely complete, if not driving He "found a chassis." and wants know if if I know "of any parts cars." I love the kid and seeing him grow up. I love cars. I wish he was next door and I'd have a lot more / better time to help him. But I can't help but feel down on the ideas stuffed into his head by certain in-laws of mine who, frankly, have a little less rare project savvy than the bunch of you all. Am I an anti-dream ogre? Or am I on reasonable ground? PS: the last thing a couple years ago was an Auburn boattail. Had to be genny.
Reminds me of people that work at Walmart and only want to drive a Beemer. Start simple. with something that is reasonable to buy parts for, sell it. Then buy the beemer
A 30-33 Cad will bury a rich man. If all he has is a chassis, it is a doomed project. Each part, that would be in the hundreds for a Ford, will be in the thousands for a Cad. I would dissuade him at any cost from starting a project like that. I do seem to recall a kid a while back who posted here or maybe on the AACA, wanting an Auburn Speedster. I remember him thinking he could do one for a dollar down and a dollar a week. Probably the same kid.
