Nice chops! Makes me think of buying a Real Steel 30-31 5w and putting it on my 32 ch***is, instead of a gl*** 32 5W. On those pics, how hard is it to get the 30-31 body to match the 32 frame? Also I noticed the firewalls didn't bulge out like a stock 30-31, did you replace them, or just set them back a little?
Sorry guys off topic. I wish to share some photo's however I can't figure out how to attach a thumbnail photo?
If things get too cramped with a chop and chanel you can also sink your floor pans. You'll be seated below the top of your frame, it gives you a little more head room.
I think I have it...4" chop works well only because my tape roll is 2" wide....Picture attached of my 57 Mercury "Rat rod"
if you think dirtys coupe is nice, you should see his hair in person on a "good hair day". puts that car to shame...
Might want to move that tape up a little bit. Cutting the straightest area of the pillars makes it easier to fit the two halves back together. If one part is straight and one's curved they don't fit back together very well. Your back side window might end up looking goofy if you cut it there too.
If you plan to drive it, check to see if you need a certain windowshield height. In PA. you need 7" vert. height at the lowest point, not length of gl***. I'm not a big fan of chopping the **** out of it and having it look out of preprotion with the rest of the body.
Well it ain't broken, and when the hood is done we'll see if it's pointing up. If it is, would you consider it "Sinister"???
Lucky77...Might want to move that tape up a little bit. Cutting the straightest area of the pillars makes it easier to fit the two halves back together..........Good catch. Thank you. I have since moved my cut lines up two inches which appears to be the straightest spot. Thanks again...
I chopped my '29 coupe 3" last weekend. Being a small giant at 6'5" I haven't decided to channel it yet, as leg room is rare in an A. It should look good when you're done!
j ripper.....Thanks for the photo's. Yours is exactly how I invision mine turning out. How did you make your cut? Saws-all or cutt-off-disk?, also what did you use for a brake conversion? Thanks again....
i actually did the cutting with a jig saw and some nice long metal blades. personally i would say it works out pretty darn good. as for brakes i used 40 ford with 39 pedal ***embly. spindles and rear end 40 also.
quote=j ripper;2303161]forgot to mention. the 3 " cut was centered in the 1/4 window and followed throughout the rest.[/quote] I have to agree w/ fur biscuit I've looked j ripper's car at 2 shows recently. 1st time... that is a nice car . 2nd time at hot rod revolution..... it is A really sweet ride. real AV8 coupe. But hey this is N. California....
Some more welding and grinding to do...Stopped at 4", thinking I may want to channel it still. Easy chop...Today..Sunny day, work on the car for a couple hours, go White tail hunting later this afternoon.....
