I would dig running a 4 speed in my 30... but with my size and my problems in my hip from cancer so i'm opting for the standby TH350 with a B&M slap Mega shifter

  2. Pedal placement and access can be a problem regardless of trans chosen.

My 32 roadster would be a touch crowded in the footroom area if it was a stick car.
My fault because I built a fairly large trans tunnel so I'd have good airflow through the engine compartment and around the trans.

The 31 on 32 frame roadster with Big Block Buick (same as the 32) has a much smaller trans tunnel and there's more footroom, but it's still crowded for my size ten's.

The B&M shifter I ran in the 32 for a while was a lot of fun and no probs when running through the gears hard.

The Gennie Shifter is a bit easier to use on the street, but you can miss a shift with it when racing if you're not careful.
The Gennie would be improved in that area if I adjusted the friction drag device a little tighter.

(The Gennie went into the 32 about 8-10 years ago at Sweetie's request. Like you'd figure she's driven it twice since then. No probs though, the B&M went on the shelf and eventually into the 31 where it will stay.)

Either trans style is fun, but the main thing I have against the stick is, they are a drag in heavy traffic.

Not to mention that the big engines usually come with a good HD trans and no adapters or other expensive stuff required.

With an early Hemi, it's all gonna even out since either style trans is an adaptor required deal.

Torque multiplication on the launch is also a factor to consider.
Don't go too high on the stall speed or you'll introduce additional problems.

Far as skill with either trans . . . they have their own requirements and techniques for a hard launch.

A bit of a rambling response, but one key thing is to realize that you're building a street runner and official race-o stuff is not required.

The 354 Hemi or even a 350 SBC is a fairly big engine and either puts out lots of horsepower that will pull a lightweight Model A around with no probs.
