Howdy, Im a new guy from Seattle, I just found the H.A.M.B. forum. My every day driver is a 65 Chevy truck (LWB) Ive had for years, and Ive done all the work on it since I got it, I realize this site is about PRE 65, but hell, the 64 Chevy C10 is almost identicle to the 65, and the 66 for that matter. I also have a 65 GMC SWB, a 1930 Ford Coupe, and a bunch of motorcycles. Heres a photo of my 1930 Ford Coupe, project rig, on the day I got it, (as it was when I bought it). Im still in the process of planning out how I want it configured. Im deeply into the hunting-gathering stage, finding and obtaining parts, info and ideas Im getting rid of the tubbed rear, the too narrow 9 inch rear end, and the too wide rear tires, I havent decide yet whether Ill modify and use the 2 X 4 frame or replace it with a pinched 32 type, It has no diagonal bracing, and the rear end was badly installed by some differently abled person in the cars past, I plan to use a forged dropped I-beam front axle, I dont know if the one I have is repairable or not it looks like its bent a couple different ways, It has a split wishbone, they also look slightly bent (up from the underside), I havent decided between using split wishbone, hairpins, or 4-link yet, I have yet to determine the ideal rear end width, I havent decided what engine Im going to use yet, I have a 350 Chevy, and automatic that came with the car, But I want to use a manual trans, I have a pretty hot 283 that needs a rebuild, And I have a 327 thats in good shape available, But I have been contemplating using a 500 Caddy motor, but it would be quite a bit more expensive by the time I get it set up for a manual trans. Since I got the car I have been kinda sidetracked, on remodeling the garage a bit, making it bigger. I was making it longer and had no door on it, One day I came out to find a (housing challenged) guy sleeping in my car! I convinced him that there were better places for him to be. Dan
greetings from Cleveland ,Ohio Have you ever thought about making it a drag car? You've got a great starting point there.the tub job looks nicely done.I race my model A a lot and wished that I had the foresight to tub it .You might want to think about ditching the bent bones though.Dont go 4 bar .I have one on mine and the short bars ride like*****! long hairpins ride a lot nicer than any 4 bar set up I know of.Self aligning spring perches really help eliminate spring bind due to caster as well.send me more pics.great car! executioner
yeah, I did, but I want to drive it more often, on the street, from the looks of things the way it was built, I wondered if the guy that built it was building it for drag racing, It has no electrical, lights, or guages, and the floor, up the back behind the seat, and the whole trunk floor/back have been replaced with re-enforced sheet metal, and the rear end is very narrow, room for huge tires, not really the look I was going for I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of trading the body for an equivelant one that hadn't been tubbed. Dan here's more photos the way it looked when I found it:
