Still working on my 30 Model A project and have a brake bleeding issue. It's a bit complicated to communicate but let me try. Brake Equipment: 1. Disk front, drum rear 2 Welwood 15/32 brake master 3. 10psi residual rear 4. 2psi residual front 5. GM metric calipers. single piston 6. Welwood adjustable proportion valve Problem: All new brake system, bleeding system for the first time. Rear brakes first, pump up, crack bleeder pedal goes to the floor, repeat process. Move to front, pump up, crack bleeder, pedal moves but does not go to floor. Change plumbing on master cylinder and problem moves from front to rear. Tried various proportion valve positions no change. By p***ed residual valve no change. I'm ***uming Master Cylinder is defective, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ron
Don’t you mean 15/16 cylinder? Is the master cylinder below the calipers and wheel cylinders? I have pretty much the same setup. Mine is below the centerline. Try short little pumps with the master cylinder top off. Watch for small bubbles in the fluid. You may need to put a suction pump on each wheel too. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Sure both residual valves are installed in the proper direction? If they are correct, I'd call Wilwood, explain your problem and see what they have to say.
I did check for direction of flow on both residual valves, still same problem. I will give Wilwood a call to see if they have any idea or can tell me what I'm missing.
Yes, it is 15/16 sorry for my mistake. The master is below the floor and below the caliper. I will take a look at the master as you suggested to see if that makes any difference. Starting to think if the master cylinder is ok, then it might be the travel length of the push rod. I was reading over the weekend and this master cylinder should have a 1.1" push rod travel before contact with the floor or stop. I'm not sure if my setup meets those requirements. I hope to learn more after my call to Wilwood today.
