This is the gl*** run channel inside the a pillar cover. Easy to use a piece of 1" box tubing with some door gl*** channel inserted

This is the regulator and the metal strip that attaches to the top of the gl***. This side faces the front of the car.

This partictular one came from a 1928 Buick. The regulators are fairly close with one major exception. The 28's have a square shaft for the handle where the 29-31 are splines like the doors. There are other differences such as gear material, etc but your not building an AACA restored car.

Duh, THIS is the side that faces the front. The gears in certain ones are weak and fatigue. I believe Gary Wallace rebuilds them if needed.

Got a bead roller and started mocking windshield post ideas...I have been having nightmares about recreating posts that look like they belong there. Learned quite a bit with this mock up.[IMG]

edit: wow that looks dark on my computer screen... stupid iphone.

Ok need help...primed the test piece and don't know if I like the bead going all the way up....does this look natural? Should I fade it out halfway up?

I know the bead is crooked as it goes up...it was me and my buddies first real bead haha

I'd let it run, like it is now. Is there a way to make the bead into the corner? I mean to say, as it is now you have a bead and then the corner. If the bead was the start of the corner, it may look good.

yes, i can pull the bead closer to the corner, I was thinking along those lines as well. I might run it closer and fade it out about 3/4 the way up. I dont want these to seem like a mistake, maybe im putting too much thought into it though.

Whats the plan for the top of the doors where the roof meets them? Just looking for some ideas for mine.

Haven't got that far, I think the door has a flange with some width to it up there. I'll look tonight. I wanna put a drip rail back on the car though.

Any more progress to report? What gauge metal are you using for the windshield pillars?

progress... started working on this thing again. In the mean time, I mentioned that my brother has the same car... Well he gave it to my step father who is having me help him with it, so I am working on 2 of these things right now. His is already started and leaps and bounds ahead of mine.

Just wanted to say that I am jealous of everybody with shop space or even a 2 car garage. I have everything crammed into a single bay garage, so excuse the disaster zone in the pictures.

    Started squaring up the backhalf.

Made this filler piece behind the window, I wanted some space for exterior latches for a trunk. I don't know what the trunk area is supposed to look like on 30 pontiac... but I know that my step fathers was done completely different and I'm just going with what looks good to me.

have some patch work to do where the radius makes the corner around towards the door.

started on a deck lid today.. flanged this piece of sheetmetal and shrunk it to shape.

    visualizing.

deck lid frame made.. panel gaps are slightly large, but this is the inner skin and they should shrink up to proper size once I make the outer skin. I hope... this is my first real tango with sheetmetal.

I picked up a old lathe a while ago and my first project was machining dimple dies for practice... well they got used for the first time.

made some ribs from the back

Thats where we end for now. I will get a outer skin on it soon.

Ditto on the deck lid. Diggin' the oval rear window.
It would be cool with a 421, 3 carb. set-up coupled up with a 4-spd. (that's just me)

started on a ch***is... 4" z. cut the model A style nose shape into box tubing. and also played with my tig welder. I loaned my stepfather my MIG which would be way easier/preferred for some of this stuff, but its forcing me to learn to use my TIG.

Nice work. I tip my hat to you. I've got a '28 Pontiac in my ba*****t right now. It's all in pieces and just looking at it scares me. These wood structure GM cars all need insane amounts of work.
