dug, I like your idea of 1"x2" tube floor weld it solid on both sides it would be kinda like steel pavement.and I.E.D. proof too. B
How did you know I was planning to go to the first Good Guys IRAQ show. I'm only going because KIRK said he's on his way with his camaras and all I'm looking for is more Gazette coverage, you know me, it's the bomb...As for the floor idea, bomb proof and all, ....was it in the the Marines or Boy scouts I learned who'll always be prepared, I can never remember....got any night vision goggles??????????
I would tell you how to do it, but I don't own a wrench. Look at Fongs car he made it work. C'mon Doug you shouldn't haveto ask this question???
Go check out this site , it is a coupe build up but will show you everything you could possibly need. This car is incredible. There are a million pictures on this site. Have fun. http://www.cl***icroad.com/modelA/index.htm chuck Try this page for your specific question. http://www.cl***icroad.com/modelA/body.htm
Dug, post a pic of what You have done so far. The craftsmanship is 1st cl***, as all Your cars. DO IT! or i'll bring My Dog over and He'll **** on Your drivway. FED
All you guys asking for pictures know where I live. Feder, don't bring your dog please. Last time it took a month to clean up but the smell never went away. Bring your camera.
I think dug and F-head are making it clear...they are having a problem with steel tubing...I am sure they will come up with something very nice...
I don't have any problem with tubing. It certainly has it's place in this type application. I like the way yours turned out, almost stock looking. I'm just leaning toward not overbuilding it, something as light weight as the stock sub rails is what I'm after. I'm actually working on it again, which is a big deal to me. Over the weekend I moved the wheel wells out like we talked about the last time you were over. And I'm sitting here scheming about what's in store for tonight, probably rear quarter patch panels, then on to new rear sub rails. Have you done anything with yours yet?
Apparently, somebody does... I get it, I am sure you will come up with something very snazzy. I just knocked the frame out of the jig, but that is as far as I got. My life is a bit crazy at the moment, I have a lot of things going on.
Doug, If your roadster doesn't have sub-rails because of an old channel, why not use brookville 32 roadster sub-rails? Graft them on to the inside of your A body and at least you have something that fits the deuce frame. You could position the body anywhere you wanted it then. Maybe channel it just a little over the rails to make it look like it belongs there?? Just a thought. But, what would I know, i don't even own a wrench.
I cheated and bought a '32 frame pinched for a Model A from Brookeville Roadster. If you can catch them at a car show you can haggle on the price. I think I got mine for $2000. At the time they were normaly $2400, I think.
