Lots of progress that past few days.

Rear is back in the ch***is and the body is now back on. Everything is looking good so far. After I tear apart the car to paint everything I will be using new grade 8 hardware. Just used what we had for mockup.

Got the ****** in that I got from gas pumper. We also used the original 40 Ford steering drop and made a bracket to connect it under the dash rail. The horn ****on and wire were in good usable shape so I'm going to use the original stuff. Horn ****on is out in this pic

Put the 32 dash back in. I had cut the guage holes out a few weeks ago. Also mounted the shifter on. It started out as a Lokar but was modified to eliminate the top ****on that they usually come with. Has an old shift knob on it that also came from gas pumper.

You can also see the mustang master cylinder mounted in this pic too.

Right now we're mocking up the grill shell. This is more tricky than I had expected. We took a little out of the bottom so it sits on the crossmember and forms a nice imaginary line with the cowl.

Pulled the intake, carbs, and scoops off for the time being.

    Jer,
I'm digging your new avatar. Your Dad has done an outstanding job, and that manifold was a stellar HAMB score!

Incredible progress , Jerry. It's gonna have a real nice look. I used your threaded insert tip to attach my floor framework to the frame (in progress). I feel like a glacier moving compared to you!

Got the shell where we liked it and put the radiator in. I had to lay the intake and carbs on just to check out everything. It's starting to shape up. Next I have to make a headlight bar and switch the wheels for 40 ford steelies and put some tall rubber in the back to fill the wheel well opening up, something like 7.00's or 7.50's. Those little wheels in the back are just temporary so I can roll it around.

Love your car. Doing a great job on it. Your car looks so similar to my '29 on '32 rails during my build. But you work at a much swifter pace!!

Keep up the good work. I went with 7.50's on mine, they are big that's for sure, but I think they look right.

Either way you go on the rims (wires or steelies, you can't go wrong. But I would definately stick with 16's.

Sounds good, anytime on the weekend would work

Thanks for the pics, I like the 7.50's, that probably what I'll go with.

Got my hands on a nice 30-31 headlight bar so tonight I cut it up like they used to do and mounted my headlights. Thanks to CuznBrucie for the great pics that I used for reference. Turned the feet around so they are pointing forward and welded the bar on top. Some guys heat and straighten the feet for more bar height but I like the lower look.I have it clamped onto the frame rail until I can get some carriage bolts tomorrow after work.

Also need to figure out how I'm going to route my radiator support rods around the carb scoops..been checking out some pics in other threads. I'm beat, long day at work today and the new heater in the shop isn't hooked up yet. burrrrrr

It's sleeting out, I have no heat in my shop yet, but went back out to do a little more tonight..I have the fever I guess.

Anyhow, tonight's project was to begin chopping my roadster top. I got a stock top from Coadtownkid and dropped it about 2 inches and pulled it back about 3 inches so the irons would meet my raked and chopped winshield posts. I just have things held together with wire until I decide on the final profile of the top. I used the Tardel/Bishop book as a reference which really came in handy. Laid some tape on the top wood crossmembers allowing me to see the profile when the fabric is on..need trick from the Tardel book.

Need to make some more adjustments, not happy yet with how things are fitting ..but it's close.

Took the top back off tonight after work. I think I'm gonna need to do some research before I go any further to make sure I get the proportions right so it has the right "look". I don't want to butcher up a perfectly good set of irons.

I was able to drill the holes to mount my headlight bar and got the bolts in. Also, drilled my p***enger side window stanchion and put a side view mirror on.

Spent tonight tearing everything down....all the work putting everything together and fitting everything is over...took about two hours to get everything apart. Thanks to 1oldrat for letting me use his engine hoist and gearsforguts for helping with removing the rear end.

It took so long because when I lifted the engine the ****** pissed fluid out all over the place....had to get kitty litter and clean it up....of course I didnt' have any at the shop..so I had to make a run...looked like the texas chainsaw m***acre in the garage..

Put the frame up on a cart that I welded together. I'll probably paint in on there. Hung some of the other small parts on a broom handle with wire.

My workbench is now completely covered with ****...hopefully in a couple days I'll have the frame and suspension parts painted.

I even enlisted the help of my better half to lift the frame up on dolly. Notice the look of joy and happiness prior to her lifting her side..hahaha

The plan is to paint the frame, front end, rear end , and the other suspension parts, get it rolling again ..then do the engine and ****** and put it back in the rolling ch***is....we'll see...
