Seeing the 46 Vin post thats up at the moment has remined me I will be needing a VIN for my hotrod soon. I need some help with either finding one on the chassis/body or "creating one". Questions are where on the body and or chassis are they located?-I saw one on the left front body subframe/sill area on a roadster once(also told roadster VINs started with 8?)-same place for a Tudor?-if so its lost because one of the previous owners of the body fitted new sub frames. Is there any VIN/id on the chassis of Model As? Can someone help me create an original combo of correct letters and numbers(I would change the last couple of numbers so it would appear that it was made a couple of cars down the production line) and also need to know the stamp size. Thanks
The VIN is not on the Model A body. There is a body number, which is different than the VIN. On Model A's, the VIN number is the engine number, which is also stamped on the top of the frame beneath the cowl. The VIN starts with a star, then A and number. For 1930 the number start at 2742696 and end at 4237500 for that model year. The numbers do not differentiate between body styles. This holds true for US built cars, I don't know about other parts of the world.
